    The individuals’ names were not made public. SmartCare Vice President Scott Mosher said the company hoped to be in 500 rooms by the end of 2014. It is already on pace to meet that goal, he said.
    To date, the company has raised at least $300,000. SmartCare is looking to secure another $1.2 million before the end of the year…

    SmartCare Consultants, the St. Charles-based startup that makes monitors to track the movements of seniors, has raised an additional $100,000 from private investors.
    The individuals’ names were not made public. SmartCare Vice President Scott Mosher said the company hoped to be in 500 rooms by the end of 2014. It is already on pace to meet that goal, he said.
    To date, the company has raised at least $300,000. SmartCare is looking to secure another $1.2 million before the end of the year, SmartCare President Bryan Jefferson said. Mosher said the company is set to pitch in front of the Saint Louis Billiken Angels, Invest Midwest and other private investors later this week.
    He said the company also added Patrick Dolan as its new CEO and Jay Gegeman as its new CFO. Dolan is a principal at Dolan and Associates, and Bellerive Capital Management. Hegeman spent 20 years with First National Bank of St. Louis.
    SmartCare’s monitors are a series of unobtrusive sensors placed in a senior’s room within an elderly community or residential home that track activities of daily living. They’re meant to help families keep tabs on their loved ones.
    Jefferson used his background in IT — he’s co-founder of The SOHO Shop, a home automation company that has offices in St. Charles and Iowa — to help develop the monitors, which can relay information, including whether the person got out of bed; if he or she left the stove on; whether the smoke detector went off; or if the person had visitors. That data is transmitted to families in real time through SmartCare’s platform.
    The SOHO Shop has 16 employees. SmartCare has six, Jefferson said. SmartCare projects $5 million in gross revenue for 2014.

    In the video above Bryan does an excellent job of describing and demonstrating the functionality and the equipment used in the solution for DLVSC that Control4 controls.

    What Dr. Munavalli and his team have learned from using the Control4 solution is that they have become approximately 32% more productive in seeing more patients. They also noticed that by the time the patient sees the Doctor they are better educated on the procedure they will be undergoing therefore making them more confident in the treatment improving outcomes. The office also noticed patients asking and wanting to purchase more treatments because of the smooth flow of the office, the ease at which the staff maintains the environment, and the fact that they have been able to view more procedures through digital signage technology all controlled by Control4 and The SOHO Shop.

    PS Kelly Ahern from the team handling public relations on behalf of Control4 is currently interviewing Dr. Munavalli and his staff on behalf of Dan Daley at Tech Decisions, a prominent online tech publication, they were looking to highlight some commercial installations, specifically in the healthcare industry and they immediately thought of the installation at the Dermatology, Laser & Vein Specialists of the Carolinas that The SOHO Shop completed, after seeing the attached video.
