You're considering a career change. How can you leverage networking connections to boost your resume?
Request feedback from key network contacts who will elaborate on your value - what they 'see' in you, both soft and hard skills, that you do well. Weave nuggets of their feedback into your career story (aka, resume).
-
Your boss is a mentor. How can you use this to your advantage?
Request specific chunks of time (i.e., 20-30 minute chunks) with a particular, assigned purpose to discuss/request ideas, advice, brainstorming on a topic. Example: You want to build a particular skillset out such as project management, and you foresee an opportunity(ies) to do so, but it requires your boss's sponsorship. Write out a few, concise bullet points for discussion and be prepared and respectful of their time. Keep it brief, unless your boss offers additional time; i.e., be disciplined in your conversation. Notate takeaways. ACT on any (or at least 1-2) tips/suggestions your mentor boss provides to prove follow-through.

How do you write effectively for different customers?
Always assume the customer is quality-centric and professional vs. casual. Treat each engagement with respect and verve and diplomacy. Value their time with crispness of content and focus, underpinned by energy and interest in their SPECIFIC needs and pain points. Provide tangible examples of how your solutions meet their needs, whenever possible. Once you've done so, reread and edit ruthlessly to trim out fat and excess that doesn't align with THEIR needs and YOUR target message goals. Sit down your content and step away for a bit; return with a fresh perspective; read, trim, send. Move ahead to the next written project, learning from each communication success/failure.
-
How can you make your writing more relatable with storytelling?
While structure matters, the rhythm matters even more, as it evokes emotion and connection. So, rather than opining that the middle was nebulous or the climax not arousing enough, and even at the expense of a perfectly constructed story, I would encourage a strong focus on rhythmic storytelling.

Quarterly contest, sponsored by WritersWeekly.com. This is how it works, according to the Publisher: On the date of the contest, at start-time, we send out the topic for that specific contest to all registered entrants, while also posting it on WritersWeekly.com.
Entrants must be registered before the contest begins and there is a limit of 500 participants per contest. Entrants then have 24 hours to write and submit their stories via email. The stories “must deal with the topic in some way to qualify” and they must not exceed the pre-assigned word count, which is announced with the topic.
After reading the entries for each contest, we can see how difficult it is to come up with a unique plot when working with an assigned topic. But, inevitably, a few writers do manage to successfully break away from the pack. -
