5 tips to help you close big deals and finish 2024 strong! 1. Follow up on any pending sales and establish clear timelines on next steps - create urgency! 2. Call old customers and check in on them. They might need additional inventory and they could have extra dollars to spend before Jan 1. 3. Prospect, prospect, prospect. The work doesn’t end 12/31 and January will come with a new budget. 4. Prioritize health and fitness - get enough sleep, drink plenty of water, and aim for 8k steps per day. Trust me on this - health is wealth. Best tip to finish strong… 5. How quickly does your Account Manager respond? This morning, 5am I get the text (see below). My response is simple, immediate and consistent. If a client calls or texts and asked if I can deliver a piece of equipment, I answer immediately and my answer is “I’m on it”. Our main job is not delivering equipment, it’s being available and responding quickly, saving you time, money and headaches, thus keeping your project flowing, on time and on budget…and yes, getting you the equipment you need. Every 6 months or so, I try and involve myself in some sort of LinkedIn challenge. Why? Because stepping out of your comfort zone is where growth happens. I'm going to spend the next 2 weeks with my Sandler® Training, Sales San Antonio peers focused on growing my network. As you can see below, we are focused on 4 key areas: 1. Post - Even for someone like me who posts regularly, posting consistently for 10 days is a challenge. Being creative and coming up with content is not always easy. 2. Connect - Personally, I don't spend as much time as I should connecting with people in the industry I serve. The next two weeks, I will try and add more people to my network who I can do business with. 3. Add - If you are not promoting your online presence in multiple places (the example here is an email signature line) then you are potentially missing out on driving people to get to know you. 4. Identify - There are influencers in just about every vertical. Connecting with them, learning from them, and engaging with them is a recipe for success. Wish us luck! Thoughts? 🧐 This is a safe space, right? 😷 “An estimated 30 million workers—nearly one in five Americans—are subject to a noncompete.” “Noncompetes often force workers to either stay in a job they want to leave or bear other significant harms and costs, such as being forced to switch to a lower-paying field, being forced to relocate, being forced to leave the workforce altogether, or being forced to defend against expensive litigation.” “The Commission also finds that instead of using noncompetes to lock in workers, employers that wish to retain employees can compete on the merits for the worker’s labor services by improving wages and working conditions.” My opinion… Finally!!! This practice has affected many of my former colleagues and truthfully myself at one point. From a sales perspective, companies may own the product, they do not own the employee, and they do not own the relationship their employees cultivate. This ruling is a long time coming. In the book “How To Be A Great Boss,” by Gino Wickman and Rene' Boer, there’s a piece on delegating that really spoke to me. I am resistant to letting things go for almost every single reason on this list: 1. Being good at these activities got me promoted in the first place. 2. I have no one to delegate to. 3. It takes too much time for me to train someone. 4. I find that it’s faster and easier to do it myself. 5. I wouldn’t ask anyone to do anything I wouldn’t do myself. 6. No one can do it as well as me. 7. It’s too complicated to explain it to them. 8. I spend too much time fixing their mistakes. Employees need to know that you trust them to do the work that you delegated to them. And in order to grow as a boss, you need to delegate. If you’ve struggled with any of these excuses like I have, know that you’re not alone. Gonna really work on this as we roll into Q4 this year so that I can continue to grow in 2025.
