I had the pleasure of hearing Unstoppable Tracy Schmitt BRLS, B.Ed, MBA speak a few weeks ago and I was so moved by her story. She shared a story of judgement, resilience, kindness, perseverance, a Mother's will, and ultimately what it looks like to lead with understanding. But there was one thing she shared that moved me to the core, that had me literally shaking and brought tears to my eyes. She said, "No just means they don't KNOW." 💕 You see, Tracy has heard NO more than many of us have and yet she has climbed the highest mountain, competed against world athletes, and accomplished some of the most difficult physical activities coming out a winner - all without legs and arms. So when I say she has heard NO more than anyone I know, I mean it. But, Tracy's Mother was the most incredible human and she taught her daughter that NO just means they don't know. And that statement brought me to tears (I am tearing up just writing this).💖 It means we need to help people understand so they KNOW what they are saying NO to and can be open to a yes, or at least "we'll give it a try." How often have we looked at someone and based on one look, we decide what they can and cannot do? How often do we cast judgments on others based on things we don't know or choose to understand? How often do we put limits on people who are choosing to live limitless? It's time to get to KNOW before we say NO. Day 4 of Customer Appreciation Week The Presbyterian Church rarely uses Latin, but one of the common phrases we embrace is “Nec tamen consumebatur,” which translates to "Burning but not consumed" (Exodus 3:2-4). This phrase reminds Presbyterians to persevere through trials and tribulations. It’s a timely reminder, especially considering the challenges we faced recently during the COVID-19 pandemic. Both the church and its members went through difficult times, but like the burning bush, we were not consumed. In today’s world, business agility and resilience are essential not only for organizations but also for churches. Here are some key strategies the church could focus on to strengthen our ministry and bounce back from challenges: 1. Continuous improvement and innovation in all areas of ministry. 2. Strengthening teamwork between interrelated ministries. 3. Diversifying income streams and mitigating current or foreseeable risks. 4. Incorporating technology to enhance our reach and operations. 5. Empowering ministry leaders to make decisions at the group or team level. 6. Providing regular training on emerging issues and trends. 7. Focusing on the cross-sectional needs of our members to ensure holistic support. Ultimately, the strength and resilience of the church are rooted in its members. Together, we can continue fulfilling the Great Commission, no matter the challenges we face. #customerappreciationweek

14 bosses in 24 years. Too many? Nope! Each one shaped me. Tomorrow is National Boss' Day. I thought about the 14 leaders I reported to over my 24 years at Comcast. Some led me for years, others for just a few months. But every single one shaped my journey. Here are a few lessons learned: 1️⃣ Great bosses elevate people: They see your potential before you do. 2️⃣ Authenticity matters: The leaders I admired most were supportive, human, and real. 3️⃣ Listening is everything: Not just hearing the words. But understanding needs, aspirations, and fears. These are skills I strive to bring to my work every day. To all the bosses out there making a difference: Thank you. Good morning friends and family! Want to share a quick leadership tidbit this morning. Long post, but worth it, I promise! Plus, there is a quick ask at the end. Picture is to get your attention. The past few weeks, I have been in the weeds of our upcoming NETA conference, which is good, but tiring. I have been in need of a little extra inspiration to break out of the task to task mentality. It happened this morning! My wife asked me what I had going on at work today and when I shared the meetings I had and the emails I was already sending it suddenly hit me - my younger self would be so GIDDY! Why you wonder? Well, today I have been emailing with my good friend Susi Elkins at PBS, have meetings with Sesame Workshop, Fred Rogers Productions, and four colleagues from our public media system! George W. Davis III, Luis Patino, WPBS-TV, UEN. Plus, I get to interact all day with our amazing NETA team! How much better can it get? Connecting and working with people you respect and with organizations that literally have had an impact on my entire life! Now, I get to be part of the future with my public media colleagues and organizations to boldly build for the next generation! SO COOL! The leadership lessons I want to share: 1. Take time to get on the balcony of your work and see the bigger picture often. It is what fuels the work on the ground. 2. Be inspired by your work and SHARE it when you feel it! Let others know about your passion. 3. Truly invest in your meetings and interactions with everyone, you may just be the person or organization that they have been looking forward to meeting with to fuel their passion. 4. And last, but not least, from my friend Fred Rogers, "If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person." Now, it is your turn to share your inspiration for today! This was such a great conversation with 💛 Virginia Asher, MS, CFP® (US and Canada). Financial literacy isn’t just about budgets, savings, or investments. For many, the ability to make ends meet, stretch a paycheck, or navigate financial obstacles is a skillset deeply rooted in lived experience. Survival itself is financial literacy. It’s important to recognize that different communities face unique challenges, and their financial journeys reflect that.
