Traditional MMM uses a maximum likelihood approach. This means that the results are purely focused on the correlations in the data over time. The reality is that this kind of analysis uses data that no marketer or manager would trust 100% to guide decisions. The #Bayesian estimation approach allows its users to incorporate multiple sources of information, including but not limited to MTA & incrementality testing results. By doing so, the model is more informed and more consistent with the brand's larger information estate. Thanks for raising the issues again Finn. One clear problem is that unfortunately too many researchers confuse making surveys or qual response less stressful with gamification. For a decade I've heard a lot about the latter Nd how we can learn from the gaming market. In reality the industry too often thinks adding characters or more fun answer options or the " chance to win if you complete the fun tasks" as gamification. It's not. Go look at successful games, from angry birds to world of warcraft. They create worlds where the player is there for the game, the data collected is huge but indirect. The last few years I've spent more time with esports and gaming companies. Companies that create "gamification" that people pay to play. When was the last time a market researcher was paid by respondents so they could play ? When was the last time market researchers paid gaming companies to develop ways to get the answers we seek inside their games ( and yes I know smarter MR people ate starting to use in game social like Discord)?. It's a big subject .. more dis ussion needed.thanks again for reminding us

With Generative AI, do companies really need to hire content marketing agencies anymore? We surveyed 600+ marketers in partnership with a few Databox research partners, including AI copilot software, Jasper. 301 of the respondents who were not agencies answered the question, "In your own opinion or experience, which of your outsourced sales & marketing efforts can be replaced by generative AI?" 212 (or 70%) responded "written content." If you're a content marketing agency & that doesn't scare you, I'm hesitant to tell you that only 45 (or 15%) selected, "None of my outsourced sales & marketing efforts can be replaced by Generative AI" In the chart below, you can see the long list of things they have brought (or are planning to bring) in-house. When we survey people, we ask open-ended questions to gather quotes that add context to the data we're collecting. After reading through many answers, it's obvious that companies are already saving ⏰ & 💰 by leveraging AI in their content production processes. Here's examples... "Generative AI has saved me hours when it comes to enhancing content for our LinkedIn Newsletter. I am able to spend more time in the R&D phase of the process, which is a critical component of providing relevant and newsworthy material for our subscribers." - Amelia Cristiani, Trading Heritage International, LLC "We recently conducted an email marketing campaign where between 75-90% of the written content was generated by AI & not only saved a substantial amount of time with the copywriting process, but also saw some of the highest conversion rates we've ever achieved." Jake Talhami, TruVersity "We're a mom & pop shop so our resources are very tightly constrained. We do not have a customer relations team or a content creation team, so anywhere we can save time by having generative AI provide us templates for blog posts, email marketing, or even search marketing headlines has really allowed us to survive & thrive. " - Mike Baron, Marley & Moose "We save many hours on generating relevant content using generative AI as a starting point." - Michael Smart, Egress Solutions, Inc. Younger Americans are starting to use generative AI in place of search engines, like the traditional Google experience. Most trusting the results. Consumers continue to gravitate to AI tools. Note, this was before Google released Gemini fully to the current search experience, it is obviously growing. When mobile started to take hold as the NEXT platform, builders focused on responsive design for the physical device. We wanted experiences optimized for each platform - mobile, PC, or Tablet. Will generative AI represent responsive design by way of the software experience? Creating personalization truly at scale for every single interaction digitally... by way of context from one search to the next. Most #intentdata in the market right now in 2024 is the same intent data as 2014. Co-op data emerged in roughly 2010 and took off when Madison Logic spun off Bombora in 2014. Bidstream intent emerged around the same time. Both track engagement with webpages by topic or category, both techs haven’t changed all that much in 10+ years. The packaging and “activations” have taken on new personas, even entirely new companies using the same data have emerged, but it’s all the same base tech and concepts, and this data is readily available. The future of intent data is proprietary, custom built audiences tracking not just signals but #signalsthatmatter #gtm #b2bmarketing

Here’s a simplified roadmap 🗺️ 📍Start by testing the overall incrementality of each channel to find the average lift 📍Next test each channel’s prospecting and retargeting campaigns to understand incremental lift by tactic by channel 📍Then test specific campaign types (Pmax, ASC, DSA, etc.) to see how incremental each campaign type is 📍Finally, you can begin testing different components of your campaigns. Like: -attribution settings -bid strategies -broad match vs phrase match -different ad types or creatives Rinse and repeat 🛁 Tools like Stella makes this very easy to execute.

The only "threat" curation plays to DSPs is it makes it much easier for clients to pick up and move to a new DSP. Tying your audience targeting strategy into a bundled deal makes ad buyers more "portable".

The data coming out about young adults is something marketers (not just politicians) should be paying attention to. For years the consensus view in the marketing world that young people want to buy from brands that "share their values" and then assumed those values were very far to the left culturally and politically. The research is increasingly telling a very different story: young people are (1) split across the entire political spectrum and (2) care about how broken the system feels. Affordability in food, housing, healthcare, and yes even government spending (!!!) are the top issues. That is a vibe shift.
