This new legislation opens opportunities to invest private capital in the critical mission of producing more housing availability. Note the careful choice of words... to increase Housing Availability in many Rocky Mountain Markets , private capital has a role to play. The short-sightedness of short-term, quarter-by-quarter, earnings focus is going to ultimately harm the very companies that have done little (or nothing) to combat this very existential threat. Skepticism is healthy, but the signs Al Gore warned about over 20 years ago are all around us, and the cost of mitigation rises with the damage we are seeing every day with our own eyes. Shareholders would be wise to hold their companies much more accountable, not just to save the planet, but to save their portfolios. #GreenInvesting #Climate

There may be lower #financialliteracy among segments with lower levels of education. But the highly educated can also suffer from poor financial management skill. Singapore may not yet be ready for the same solution as California in standalone financial education modules in schools, though it does so in Institutes of Higher Learning. Here is where employers and associations need to step up to fill the gap for their staff and members. MoneyOwl has done #finlit workshops and talks, with no vested interest, for tens of companies led by leaders and HRs who care for their employees’ whole persons. Or at least, for enlightened self-interest, as they recognise that you can pay someone a fair wage, but if they don’t know how to manage it with the right mindset, it would never be enough. Some takeaways from Simon Sinek’s conversation today Urban Land Institute: 1. We often say we are in a leadership position, but are we leaders? 2. Change your company values into verbs- it’s not Honesty, it’s tell the truth. 3. When you have a clear sense of cause in your work, change happening around you won’t take you down and may help you innovate. Stay focused on your cause and improve yourself and your business. 4. The primary way we resolve conflict is by listening. 5. Regarding conflict, turn judgement into curiosity. Be curious and ask people questions to understand them, rather than judging them without exploring their “why”. 6. Recall a coach, teacher, or mentor from your childhood who had a profound impact on your life and who believed in you. Be that person for someone else.
