How much ‘hot air’ are you hearing in this market, federal contractors? 1. Small Business Specialists promising you’ll get a call from their agency if you …. Just register here on our agency site. 2. GSA Proposal Prep Companies offering ‘no bid’ contracts? Even worse, you spent a year getting a GSA schedule only to find out, your federal clients don’t use it to buy what you sell. 3. YouTube Consultants telling you that because you’re a woman, disadvantaged in a HubZone that the feds are looking for YOU with billions and billions to spend? (It doesn’t matter what you sell, you can be a pass-through!) 4. Instagram consultants telling you that you’ll win ‘millions in days!’ 5. TikTok consultants selling proposal training and AI telling you to bid, bid, and bid some more….eventually you’ll win. The truth is: Federal Contracting is the big leagues. You need to offer a legitimate product or service, offer reasonable pricing, be able to deliver perfectly and on-time, have your financial house and back-office in compliance, have specific certifications, know how to bill properly, and most of all, have a strong SALES pipeline of intimate relationships with the people who buy what you sell. Winning takes a client who knows, trusts and loves you enough to sing your praises in the evaluation committee after you’ve submitted a perfectly compliant and reasonably priced bid. As we all know, the 2024 election at times has already taken over the news cycle. As the campaigns continue into the fall, this will likely continue to occur whenever big news breaks on the campaign trail. Given this, companies in virtually every sector can play a part of the news cycle and to an extent use the opportunity for news jacking, provide tangible information and even employee/customer engagement. Here's a few tips I would employee to be a part of the process from both a pr/marketing and communications perspective. 1. Provide your customers with non-partisan information on where to vote. 2. Share relevant data with reporters who are covering key topics (inflation, cost of living, AI, technology, security, etc.). 3. Do a social campaign for your customers that encourages them to vote and again, remain non-partisan. 4. Ensure all of your team members are aware of polling locations and the time they need to go vote. 5. Incorporate relevant topics that are important to American's in your blog, thought-leadership pieces, interview opps and on your social channels. This fall will be a great time for companies to play an overall role in the voting process (please remain non-partisan) while exploring ways to intersect themselves into the news cycle.
