Trusts are powerful estate planning tools. As a former CFP, I often advised clients to have one prepared by their attorney. I’d tell them, "You have three choices: do nothing, make a will, or create a trust." Doing nothing or making a will both lead to probate, while a trust often avoids these issues, offering flexibility, privacy, and estate tax planning benefits. However, the risks of trusts are seldom discussed. Ignoring them often deletes the many benefits of trusts. Yesterday, there was little you could do to prevent fraud, loss, or litigation of your estate. But today, you can digitally register your trust and safeguard your estate with a protective barrier against these common pitfalls. It's crucial for professionals to inform clients of the vulnerabilities in their estate plans.
