You need to forecast retail sales for your business. How can you do it most effectively?
Depends on how much data you're coming in with and how much you're willing to spend on data... We need, bare minimum: - Avg velocity - Avg overall revenue growth Just DTC data? Going to be hard to estimate velocity, but go do some deep digging into similar products/competitors or pay for category data from SPINs or similar (based on the channel strategy you're taking). Just data from independents? Better, but probably not too accurate for bigger retail Estimated data from bigger retail? Good. Data you've paid for from bigger retail? Even better. Cool - now take whatever velocity data you have x growth %, better if this is a month over month. We could go deeper, but this is a simple way to forecast retail sales.
