Dear SDRs/BDRs...Make it stop! Getting messages like this in my inbox..... "Hey {First Name} , just popping in to see if you had a chance to take a look at my last message? No worries if not, send me a thumbs up if you'd like me to share more information :) " WHO is paying people to sit and send out messages like this?? This is beyond annoying. LinkedIn Spam is ruining good business outreach and wasting alot of our time. BDRs need to be held to higher standards. Is management out to lunch?! I wish the LinkedIn Messages UX was a bit better. Sales Nav is ok but the separation kills me. Anyone have any hacks/figured out how to make your LinkedIN message Inbox tolerable? I know theres good people in my inbox, but I just cant stomach the monotony of reading through these god awful messages from the WORST SDRs. HELP!!!! MAKE IT STOP #LinkedinHacks #bizdev #SDRtraining

2024 SDRs are not like 1990 SDRs SDRs are crucial for achieving pipeline goals. Why do I say this? Sales development is no longer a smile-and-dial function. Sales development no longer just registers prospects for events. Sales development no longer just calls someone they've been told to call by an AE. The best "cheat codes" every AE should know: 1. 1:1s with your boss. Approach them strategically. Proactively share format and content. Biggest deals you need support on. Challenges you need help with. Forecast for the month, quarter, etc. Wins. 2. Perception. Performance is your fire. How you're perceived internally (aka your brand) is the water or gas that gets dumped on your fire. Attitude, how you show up, handle change, communicate, matters. Hold yourself to a high bar. Two levels above where you're currently at. 3. Document everything. Take the time to write down your own sales playbook. Every strategy, process and template you have. Store it on your personal computer. The value of this over time is immeasurable. I can't state this enough. 4. Problems are a good thing. Anytime there's a problem that's an opportunity to solve it, improve it, and add value. Some of the biggest opportunities I've gotten in my career came because I dove head first into problems and helped move the business forward. Startups always have problems. Don't be the negative person. 5. Time management. Block Monday mornings every week. Don't go to meetings if they're not worth your time. Most things can be solved async. Make meetings 15 to 20 mins. Sometimes you need a whole week of no meetings to catch up, get organized and do deep work. Don't feel bad for saying no to people. They'll understand. 6. External coaching. Up level by listening to podcasts, taking courses and building an external network. Don't rely on your company for everything. Even if they're doing a great job get the perspectives and strategies of other people for a significant edge. @salespeople Answer: They're not a prospect****************** This doesn't mean give up working on getting a meeting or a deal. It means they're not a prospect at the moment. A prospect is someone for whom the value you provide has become apparent. Whether you get a deal done or not is another story, but they're not a prospect until and unless they "get it". 🪦 R.I.P SDRs? 🪦 When I open my Linkedin every second post is debating whether SDRs will be still around in the future or if this function is no longer needed due to automation and AI. Here is my take on this: - Some teams(especially SMB focused) might realise they don't need to segment sales roles into pipeline generating and closing roles, they will be going back to full cycle sales roles - Lot of SaaS teams restructured recently, this also means SDR teams got leaner, on the other hand due to AI and new tools they can be a lot more productive, making these teams more efficient - I also see a new trend where some SDRs are shifted to a "Sales Development Engineer" role, where this function knows all the in-and-out about scaling and automating pipeline generation with the help of AI and automating workflows - New GTM playbooks will focus more on "warmer" leads, especially visitor and intent data Few weeks ago, I was debating the same topic at a roundtable discussion at SaaStr Europa with various revenue leaders and I could feel excitement about the advancement of technology and AI, but there was a strong agreement that at the end of the day people love to buy from other humans. SDRs can be taught to be Managers SDRs can be taught to be Marketeers SDRs can be taught to do almost any role Fact: It's better to hire someone who is 60% ready with the right behaviours. The #1 reason SDRs fail... They focus on responding, not on listening. - ''We work with {insert 12x logos}'' - ''Our product reviews are incredible'' - ''We do XYZ for these 678536 clients'' The result? You push prospects away. Here's what you can do instead: 1. Pick people you can sell to 2. Learn their problems very deeply 3. Show you're an expert in their space 4. Accept not everyone will be ready to buy 5. Think before you ty to sell to everyone 6. Review your results for 1-hr per week 7. Optimise your game as you play 8. If your SDRs/AEs spend more than 1 hour a day on manual research.. Cash is being lit on fire 🤡 Your $60k-$80k/year SDRs or $100k+/yr AE's shouldn't be data miners. The (better and capital-effective) Clay method: 1. Automate data enrichment in Clay (One SalesOps person on your team) 2. Score leads based on ICS (Ideal Customer Situation. Context in comment section) 3. Deliver best-fit leads to SDRs/AEs, push the rest to an email sequencer like @instantly Result? SDRs/AEs focus on what they do best: SELLING. We've seen a 300% increase in meetings booked using this approach. Quick example: Low Clay score (≤6) → Automated email High Clay score (≥7) → Personalized touch-points from SDR/AE (Dialing, LI, voice notes/videos etc) Curious how we score leads inside of Clay? Hey sales people, be careful with ‘Gong’ advice. Because you don’t work for Gong. Gong had 6 funding rounds. Each time millions of people heard about Gong. Branding Familiarity Your company probably doesn’t have that level of awareness. When Gong sales people engage most decision makers already know what they’re calling about. People with in the prospect have probably already had a discussion about Gong. Gong is a great company with great people. But the branding makes it a lot easier to sell so take the advice with a grain of salt. Have a great Friday! #sales #ifurnotgong
