Despite the benefits of using deadstock, there is still a lack of collaboration between designers, customers, and manufacturers to fully leverage these materials. Monetizing has never been my strong suit. 🙈 Since I founded the Sustainable Fashion Forum, my mission has always been about connection—bridging people, knowledge, and resources to move the needle on sustainability in fashion. Whiiiiccchhhhhh means I never focused on the money—something that’s been both my greatest advantage and my greatest challenge. It’s been incredibly rewarding to help others succeed…but also incredibly challenging for obvious reasons. 🙃 The SFF Job Board is a perfect example. I envisioned it as the go-to destination for sustainability-specific careers in fashion, updated weekly with the latest roles from around the world. And for a while, it was just that. The SFF Job Board reached *thousands* of seasoned professionals and ambitious newcomers eager to contribute to fashion's sustainable future. But to fully support our community and truly be a one-stop-shop for sustainability-specific jobs in fashion, we chose to list ALL jobs in sustainable fashion, whether they were paid placements or not. I made that choice because I believe in supporting this community, even if it means brands aren’t incentivized to pay for posts. It’s been a true labor of love—a commitment to helping people passionate about sustainability find meaningful opportunities in fashion. Over time, though, that labor of love became costly, and eventually, I couldn’t keep the platform running. I let it go quietly (though, judging by your emails, it didn’t go unnoticed! 😅). Now, with everything going on, it feels more important than ever to offer a space where people can connect with impactful work in sustainable fashion. Hoop hurray! Shall we thank them now, or if this ever gets passed and wriitten rightly into law? Enviornmentally speaking, time is ticking. Urgently, and with every passing hour, more obscenely. It is unbelievable to me that we are knocking the 1.5 degree, and STILL have fashion operating freely? Serious obsenity. Legislation is obscenely negligent in protecting as this entitlement of system is not very speedy. In exception of course to the recent EU passing against greenwashing. This law managed to crawl up the mighty hill of unliklliness and passed unusually quickly. Not so for the whole of the fashion industry, All are accountable today for sustainable shifting. With the scientific news of Earths tipping points tipping… every choice after matters intentiy. We know who, and what is accountably harming. We know. Globally we see. Legislation is past due on acting and protecting. Decades have been lost to government foot dragging. To “the business” of running the industry of economy by “collectively” ignoring the science to keep this “growth” business model flowing. Regardless of the harm we are causing. Now the corals are bleaching. The world is watching. Act urgently and accountably. #Planetfirst is everything. 🌍👁

On Thursday night Positive Retail hosted our first Fashion Truth Tellers event in Margate. The idea? To get credible leading voices who share a common passion with me for promoting responsibility in the fashion industry together to share insider perspectives. None of us shy away from spreading the message of truth in order to create change in fashion & retail. We all use our voice & platforms for good. We acknowledged the obvious issues of the fact the world is on fire due to overproduction, overconsumption and the need for change. But the conversation was more than that, it was super rich because my truth tellers really did share their perspectives and why they are motivated to speak out. The audience were so engaged. It was a buzzy vibe. I founded Positive Retail motivated by a few different truths: 💚 The truth that if we stopped producing today, there is already enough clothing for the next six generations. 💚 The truth that the UK high street had been failing us all for a long time; a new day is needed. 💚 The truth that the wider system is exploitative, and we can’t look away. Through events like this Positive Retail aims to inspire others to join us in making positive changes. Together, we can work towards a fashion industry that prioritises ethical practices, environmental stewardship, and social responsibility.
