We are excited to announce that Greentown has closed over $4M in funding from a dynamic mix of partners in our home ecosystems of Houston, TX and Somerville, MA! This funding will bolster Greentown’s financial position and help our leadership team prepare for Greentown’s next chapter of supporting even more climate and energy-transition entrepreneurs. The funding was provided by Bobby Tudor, CEO of Artemis Energy Partners and Chairman of Houston Energy Transition Initiative (HETI); David Baldwin, Co-founder of OpenMinds, Inc. and TEX-E and Partner, SCF Partners; Rice University; the Massachusetts Executive Office of Economic Development (EOED); and the City of Somerville. In tandem, we are proud to introduce Greentown’s newly appointed board of directors, featuring prominent leaders from Greater Houston and Greater Boston’s climatetech and energy innovation, entrepreneurship, and investment industries. ICYMI: 📁 The 2024 Clean Energy Industry Report has been released and New York’s clean energy job growth is at a record high with 178,000 people employed in clean energy jobs in New York State at the end of 2023. 💥Growth in clean energy career opportunities was more than double that of overall job growth statewide! By the numbers: 🎯 Clean and alternative transportation jobs grew the fastest at 17%, expanding by 2,100 jobs in just 12 months. 🎯 93% of clean energy workers were at least somewhat confident of career advancement in the next 12 months. 🎯 65% of clean energy workers reported being “very satisfied” with their career.
