We call it the "chicken nod". A subtle movement of a person's head as they try our cultivated chicken for the first time. A quiet moment of recognition, "this tastes like chicken" mixed with the surprise and delight of "THIS TASTES LIKE CHICKEN!" #chickennod #cultivatedmeat

A highlight of the year? Trying cultivated meat. It surpassed my expectations in every way: 🎉 It tasted not only like chicken but MORE flavorful. 👏The texture was amazingly spot on. 🥣It was fantastic served both hot and cold. Factory farming has to end - for many reasons including the 92 billion farmed animals who suffer every year and our planet that is being destroyed by the animal agriculture industry. Cultivated meat is a powerful option to create a new food system - and a more heathy, sustainable, just and humane world. It is the change we urgently need. Let’s embrace it instead of being afraid of it. A special thanks to the amazing Melissa Musiker and UPSIDE Foods for inviting me. Uma Valeti, MD you remain an inspiration. I can’t wait to see what is next in store for you all and the industry. #endfactoryfarming #foodsystems #delicious #altprotein #climatechange #midgethedoglikesittoo

  • Starting today, cultivated chicken is officially BANNED in Alabama. 🚫 Because we’re the curious sort, we explored some of Alabama’s other active bans to check out the company we’ll be in. Turns out, many are just as cluckin’ ridiculous as the one for cultivated meat, which takes away Alabamians’ free choice to eat a delicious, FDA & USDA-approved meat offering a more humane and sustainable option. Legislation like this continues to limit choices and stifle innovation. We believe it’s about providing MORE choices for consumers — complementing, not competing. #CultivatedMeat #FoodInnovation #UPSIDEFoods

Had a chance to try FDA and USDA approved cultivated chicken in Alabama before it’s banned tomorrow!🍗💔 Huge thanks to UPSIDE Foods for this opportunity! This chicken isn’t just delicious; it could be a major step toward a more sustainable and humane food system. Nothing like state lawmakers banning innovative food technology they clearly don't understand continuing to use unpopular and shortsighted reasoning. "They throw a couple of animal cells in there, throw some chemicals in there, some ingredients, and boom! You get a chicken leg out" -Representative Danny Crawford (R-Athens) For the opportunity for a brighter food future, sign the petition! https://chng.it/ntcBsFSwY4

    Creating companies from university technologies

Incredibly excited to have been given the opportunity to see history first-hand as UPSIDE Foods partnered with Rebecca Vaught, Ph.D. and Van Heron Labs to let a great group of people try their cultivated meat filet. 100% chicken meat, extremely delicious, and perfectly underwhelming with how much it just kind of tastes like chicken. I’ve been a full vegetarian for 3 years now and it made my heart incredibly happy to have my first piece of meat since 2021 be produced without any animals having to suffer. I am overjoyed that this product exists, and that soon enough it’ll be available to all. Tonight gave me hope for a brighter future and I’m glad the future tastes like chicken 🐓 Vanessa Garapola Chigozie Chukwu Taylor Deadrick

  • Raising a Fork for Choice! Tonight we savored a special feast in Alabama with friends, relishing our tasty Cultivated Chicken. As of tomorrow, Cultivated Meat will be banned in Alabama. It’s disheartening to see a state choose to ban this innovation as we need more options to feed our growing world. We strongly believe everyone should have the right to choose the meat they want to eat. If you’re against politicians dictating what you eat and want a brighter food future, sign the petition! https://chng.it/ntcBsFSwY4 #FoodInnovation #UPSIDEFoods #FreedomofFood

  • At UPSIDE Foods, we believe you should be able to love meat and love the planet at the same time. That’s why we’re headed to #ClimateWeek to champion cultivated meat as a key solution for a more sustainable food system. The need for innovative solutions has never been more urgent. Conventional meat production contributes about 15% of global greenhouse gas emissions and uses a third of the world’s arable land and water. This is unsustainable, especially as meat demand rises and our population grows. 🌍 That’s why we’re pioneering a new way to produce the meat we love—by growing only the meat we want directly from animal cells, rather than raising and slaughtering billions of animals. We’re committed to paving the way for a future with clear upsides for both the planet and all its inhabitants. We hope you’ll join us on this journey towards a more sustainable future of food.  #FoodInnovation #UPSIDEFoods

Florida, you’ve been SERVED. Today, the Institute for Justice — a nonprofit, public interest law firm — filed our lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the July 1 Florida law that bans the production, distribution, and sale of cultivated meat.  We’ve always thought it was clucked up that Florida’s politicians want to choose what you eat. We disagree. What you eat should be your choice – not something determined by special interests. UPSIDE’s cultivated chicken has been deemed safe by the FDA and USDA. We should trust their judgment more than inexperienced and uninformed politicians. So we: 📣 Started a petition against the ban 🤝 Worked behind the scenes to push back before the law went into effect 🌴 Held an event to give Floridians a chance to try cultivated meat But that wasn’t enough for us. This lawsuit is the next step, because we all have the right to choose what we eat. 💪 #UPSIDEFoods #FreedomofFood #InnovationNotRegulation
