Thank you Survivor's Hope Crisis Centre for the amazing work your team does and sharing your story with us! 💜 The lack of sufficient, stable, long-term core funding means essential staff, like counsellors and administrators, are left juggling vital work with grant applications just to stay afloat. Funding delays hurt survivors and the workers who serve them. Sustainable funding ensures counsellors can focus on healing and support—not on where the next grant will come from. Survivors shouldn’t have to wait, and SACs shouldn’t have to fight to stay open. 📖 Learn more about the need for core funding in GBV services: https://lnkd.in/etbrJvRF #16DaysofActivism https://lnkd.in/eDY3-UBP

December 6: National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women Today, we honor the memory of the 14 women who lost their lives in the tragic massacre at École Polytechnique in Montreal on December 6, 1989. They were killed because they were women. This day is not only a time to remember the lives lost to gender-based violence but also a call to action. Violence against women and female presenting folks persists in many forms—physical, emotional, sexual, and systemic—and its impact is felt in every corner of society. At Survivor’s Hope Crisis Centre, we remain committed to supporting survivors of all genders and working to create communities where everyone can live free from violence and fear. On this day and everyday, we invite you to: -Reflect on the experiences of women, girls and female presenting folks who face violence daily. -Remember those we’ve lost and those whose voices continue to be silenced. -Act by advocating for change, supporting survivors, and challenging the systems and attitudes that allow violence to continue. -Pledge to end GBV (share our post we created with NovaHouse and pledge to end GBV) Together, we can work toward a future where violence against women, girls and female presenting folks is a thing of the past. Let this be a day of both remembrance and renewed determination to make change. #SurvivorsHopeCrisisCentre #Hope #Healing #Education #Support #Webelieveyou #Wewillsitwithyou #ENDGBV #ENDSV #EndSA #PledgetoendGBV #December6 #EndViolence #RememberAndAct #rememberthe14

Gender-based violence (GBV) is rooted in a complex web of systems, including patriarchy, systemic discrimination, power imbalances , economic inequalities, harmful social norms, and gender stereotypes that devalue certain genders . At Survivors Hope, we’re committed to combating GBV through education 📚, advocacy 📢, policy changes 🗳️, and support services. Our Programs: 💡 SADI (Sexual Assault Discussion Initiative): Workshops for students on topics like self-esteem, gender, media literacy, internet safety, mental health, trauma support, healthy relationships, and sexual violence. We empower youth by upholding their universal human rights. 🌟 Reaching Out and Community Engagement: Sharing resources and offering responsive support to increase awareness, connect survivors, and engage with community members, youth, and service providers. 🤝 SARAH (Sexual Assault Recovery and Healing) Program: Providing 24/7 crisis support, long-term counselling , support groups, CAF support, advocacy, and referrals for those impacted by sexual violence across Interlake-Eastern Manitoba. Eliminating GBV requires all of us to take action—individually, in our communities, and at a societal level. Together, we can create a culture that rejects violence and uplifts the dignity of all people . #EndGBV #16DaysOfActivism #SupportSurvivors #GenderEquality #SurvivorsHopeCrisisCentre #NoExcuse #Hope #Healing #Education #Support #webeleiveyou #Wewillsitwithyou #ManitobaHealth #InterlakeSupport #CommunityHealth #ManitobaSupport #SexualHealth #MentalHealth
