  • After nine years of dedicated service, K9 officer Rex is finally hanging up his badge. Throughout his career, Rex has been a loyal and courageous partner to his human officer, tackling countless missions, from search and rescue operations to sniffing out contraband. Today marks a special day as the department celebrates his retirement. Decorated with balloons and a heartfelt message, Rex’s patrol car became a symbol of his unwavering commitment and bravery. As he stands proudly on the car, tail wagging and ears perked, it's clear that Rex understands the significance of this moment. His human colleagues gathered to honor him, sharing stories of his heroic deeds and the bonds they've formed. Rex will now enjoy a well-deserved retirement filled with belly rubs, endless fetch games, and cozy naps. Though he'll be missed on the force, the legacy of his service will continue to inspire. Thank you, Rex, for your incredible dedication and for protecting our community with such valor. Happy retirement, brave boy!

  • Hero in Uniform: This brave officer saved a furry friend from a submerged truck, proving that heroes come in all shapes and sizes. When a pickup truck accidentally veered off the road and plunged into a nearby lake, this quick-thinking cop didn’t hesitate. He dove into the water, battling the murky depths to reach the trapped dog. Emerging victorious with the grateful pup in his arms, he reminded us all of the extraordinary lengths our first responders go to, not just for people, but for our beloved pets too.

  • Usually, when military personnel are brought in to rescue civilians, the parties involved never see each other again. But Master Sergeant Mike Maroney of the U.S. Air Force and LaShay Brown, the little girl he saved during Hurricane Katrina, are quite a different story. When pararescue (or PJ) Maroney picked up LaShay and her family from the waters of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, the little girl gave her rescuer a big hug that he never forgot. The moment was captured in an award-winning photograph that circled the globe. Maroney, who was battling PTSD at the time, carried the photo with him on difficult deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, to remind him of that special moment. Eventually, he tried to find the little girl who changed his life, even launching a #FindKatrinaGirl social media campaign. Finally, 10 years after that fateful storm, the two were reunited on the set of The Real in September 2015. Upon their reunion, Maroney told LaShay, “You rescued me more than I rescued you.” Credit to the respective owner
