Here are the top 8 verticals in Major League Baseball (MLB) this year. What do you see? Obviously, Nike dominated the scene once again. And, unsurprisingly, Home Plate Signage was the main source of value for 7 out of 8 verticals. It's one of the most premium asset placements in the league for it's high visibility and exposure. However: We see 23 of the top 100 brands by Sponsor Media Value in the MLB in financial services. We see a 29% YoY boost in SMV in the automotive industry, the highest lift of all 8 sectors here. We see a significant share of that auto value driven by Chevrolet, driving $15M in SMV through it's partnership with the San Francisco Giants. It's amazing what you can see with a little extra data. As the playoffs approach, college football is heating up and Relo is capturing all the action. We looked at all the college football teams that had secured paid field level sponsorships this season. We found that Tennessee is currently ranked only 7th in the 2024 AP Top 25. Yet it topped the leaderboard in Sponsor Media Value for partners. They still brought in tons of value for their partners. We analyzed a sample of ten teams across Major League Baseball (MLB), to find the best position for Outfield Wall placements. Naturally, those in the right and left-center field positions scored the highest by average sponsor duration. They scored 59% higher than those closer to the foul poles. However, what's interesting is that central positioning doesn't guarantee exceptional performance. Firstly, we can see those on the right generally scored more duration than those on the left. But also creative execution will dictate if a brand maxmizes their position. For example, during one game in the sample set, Hyundai's Outfield Wall asset (which was closer to the foul line) performed 17% better than an asset by Invesco QQQ near the center. This is a really interesting take on sports sponsorship. Thanks to the author for spotlighting Relo's Asset Impact Score 💥. Created in partnership with SponsorPulse™, it's all about finding a placement's TRUE media value. To do so in the NHL, we talked to thousands of fans to understand their recall and perceptions of a group of assets during the season. The questions were crafted to help us measure the following for each asset: 📌 Recall – how memorable an asset is. 📌 Annoyance – how distracting an asset is. 📌 Action – an asset’s ability to drive action. 📌 Purchase – an asset’s ability to drive consideration. 📌 Favorability – an asset’s ability to drive preference. As the author points out, data like this can help you keep your campaigns affective and aligned with fan expectations.
