Field marketers, let’s shake off that post-Thanksgiving coma with some advice on rethinking your happy hours. Here’s the deal: Traditional happy hours are so five years ago. Since the pandemic, we’ve noticed a big shift—people are less likely to attend post-work events. Whether it’s the hassle of commuting or wanting to protect personal time, the numbers are clear: “Drinks at 5 p.m.” isn’t enough to get people excited anymore. So what’s working instead? During-working-hours events or post-work activities that feel worth it. Think: 🍹 A mimosa bar at breakfast 🍩 A coffee and donut social with a barista making custom drinks 🍴 A private dinner at a boujee restaurant 🎨 A cooking class or creative group activity Your job as an event marketer today is to create experiences that make it a no-brainer for people to leave their home office and connect in person.
