  • Do you know a student who is passionate about the environment or wants to gain experience working at a local non-profit? Help us spread the news about our new internships for the Spring 2025 semester 🌍 There are the three internships we're hiring for ⬇️ PAID Clean Energy Internship ➡️ With billions of climate action dollars now available to businesses, nonprofits, and local governments, you will help PEA and our community accelerate local clean energy projects–like solar energy and electric vehicle adoption–through research, public education, and community outreach. We need a people person who also loves to dig into policy. Outreach and Events Intern ➡️ We’re looking for a motivated, self-directed intern to help support Piedmont Environmental Alliance's events during Spring 2025. The intern will send marketing and outreach emails, help plan logistics for upcoming events, and support non-profit management, including thank you letters and the PEA database. Environmental Education Intern ➡️ We're looking for an Environmental Education Intern who can commit 5 hours a week for the full academic year to learn and teach Environmental Education Programs in local schools and to build a team of volunteers to provide these programs more widely. • Last year, PEA's Green Home Tour was an incredible display of the best, most sustainable home improvements in our city, and we want YOU to help us find our next group of homeowners to share their homes with our community. If you or someone you know has a home featuring sustainable features, like pollinator gardens, rain barrels, solar panels, and more, reach out to us about being a part of our 2025 Green Home Tour in June! #solarenergy #downtownwinstonsalem #winstonsalem

  • Our Solarize the Triad campaign was so successful that the City of Winston-Salem proclaimed Friday as Solarize the Triad Day! The proclamation was made as part of the Solarize the Triad Workforce Training Program Graduation, which granted solar installation credentials to eight community members. The program was a six week program that included in-person and online coursework, on-site job training, certification opportunities, and the chance for an internship with program partner Renu Energy Solutions. All who completed the course received their OSHA 10 certification and will have the opportunity to take the NABCEP certification free of cost. Thank you to our friends at Solar Crowdsource, Goler Community Development Corporation, and Forsyth Tech Community College for making this possible! #winstonsalem #solarenergy #workforcedevelopment

  • Congratulations to PEA's 2024 Green Business of the Year Award Winners, Village Fabric Shop! We were so excited to award founders Nicole and Kelsey with this award at our 2024 Annual Party because they are doing some truly amazing things to reduce waste in our community. Village Fabric Shop believes in Ecological Responsibility, and one way they show that is through their innovative reuse space. Here's what they say about it ➡️ "One the most sustainable ways to craft is to reuse materials. The textile industry is the second largest polluter on the planet, and our reuse space helps keep usable materials out of the landfill, and provides affordable, sustainable options for artists, makers, sewists, or anyone looking to create! " It's super easy to help fill the reuse shop and divert waste from your home! All you have to do is drop off your overstock, unloved, excess stash of fabrics to the shop. And, you get store credit in exchange if you want! Just check to make sure your donation is on the list of what's currently being accepted. In addition to the reuse space, Village Fabric Shop is one of a few Winston-Salem businesses committed to completing a rigorous sustainability scorecard required of our Green Business Network members. If you want to learn more about them or their mission, visit them online or simply stop by and say hello! #winstonsalem #greenbusiness #sustainability
