Each year, Mansfield ISD honors a community partner who goes above and beyond to positively impact the lives of students, staff, and the district. The 2024 Ambassador of Education award was presented to Randall Canedy. Randall Canedy served as a school board member, where he passionately advocated for students, educators, and parents, ensuring their needs were met and their voices heard. He remains active in the MISD community by serving on committees, mentoring, and more. "His love for the kids and families of MISD shines through everything he does - they always come first," said Dr. Cantu. "Randall is more than deserving of being named Ambassador of the Year."

At a special called meeting and budget workshop on May 14, Superintendent Kimberley Cantu recommended all employees receive a raise of 3% mid-point for the 2024-25 school year. The recommendation also included increasing the employer contribution toward medical insurance from $250 per month to $350 per month to help offset the 9.5% increase in TRS Active Care Medical Rates. Since 2019, the Basic Allotment paid to public schools by the State of Texas has remained static despite nearly 20% inflation. Texas currently has a record surplus in its rainy-day fund, yet districts across the state are being forced to adopt deficit budgets and cut programs and staff. “The hard work and foresight of our business office has allowed MISD to avoid making any budget-related layoffs this year, which is incredible,” said Board President Courtney Lackey Wilson. “Years of careful planning and stewardship will also afford us the ability to consider giving all MISD employees a 3% raise, which just goes to show that Mansfield ISD truly is a great place to live, learn, and teach.” The recommendations include keeping the starting teacher salary at $63,000, which was the highest in the Metroplex this school year. The Board will vote on the recommendations at their regular meeting on June 25.
