Our partner, Torev Motors, is changing the game for EVs! We’re proud to be a part of this groundbreaking innovation, delivering our advanced SMC stator technology. "Axial-flux motors aren’t new, but Torev Motors has devised a way to make them more affordable and sustainable, bringing their power density down out of the supercar realm to mainstream EVs. By teaming with MPP, experts in soft magnetic composite (SMC) materials, its stator core is formed using a powdered-metal sintering process that is both simpler and more dimensionally accurate, permitting insertion of preformed windings that would not be possible when assembling laminated steel plates. The SMC material greatly reduces the amount of rare-earth materials needed, and because SMC lowers eddy currents, the motor naturally runs cooler. As a result, the prototype 200-hp/169-lb-ft motor boasts 97.8 percent efficiency(!), weighs just 77 pounds, and measures just 9.4 inches in diameter by 6.9 inches long.
