We invest in bold ideas, helping grassroots organizations scale and deepen their impact to reach more children in need.
About us
Global Fund for Children partners to build a world where all children and youth enjoy equal resources and opportunities in society and live free from violence, discrimination, and exploitation. We do this by investing in innovative, grassroots organizations that provide children and youth with the resources to reach their full potential and advance their rights worldwide. In the fight for children’s rights, too many great ideas go unheard and unfunded. Global Fund for Children is here to change that. We discover grassroots organizations pursuing bold ideas, and provide the funding, coaching, and connections to give those ideas a chance to work. We take smart risks that others don’t, walking alongside our partners to help them develop and succeed, so that, together, we can build a future where all children and youth are safe, strong, and valued.

With the support of an Avery Dennison grant, GFC recently embarked on a thematic, regional expansion of its Spark Fund in Southeast Asia. “ADF’s commitment made it possible for the #Spark Fund in #Southeast #Asia to get started. From there, we engaged with our Spark Fund youth panel and partners from a trust-based perspective. 💚 This holiday season, support more #climate-focused initiatives like this: https://bit.ly/3CPmOyM OR read more about this initiative here: https://bit.ly/3w6E0fZ

Another year, just like that 💫 . It's been three years since I started working for The Iris Project and in March we'll celebrate our 3rd birthday. We've grown our little team from one to four. This year we welcomed Frances Storey, who has managed all things Iris Prize, transforming our processes and bringing such positive energy to our team. Ankica Sokolić, our Ecosystem Coordinator, has shared hundreds of funding and capacity-building opportunities with Iris Prize applicants and our newsletter audience, ensuring we support young leaders far beyond our direct resources. Anouk D., our Communications Manager, has worked her magic, transforming The Iris Project's branding and this month, poured creativity into designing our beautiful annual report that tells the story of our work and our grantee partners' impact. We've also onboarded the third iteration of our Advisory Panel, saying goodbye to our longest-standing advisors Yazid S. Mikail, Ezekiel Nyanfor and Ankica Sokolić (as an advisor). I often feel a bit like I've won the lottery having a job like this. Every 6 weeks Frances Storey and I have a group call with our Advisors Alicia Amancio, Alyssa Erin Kardos Loera, Nii Noi Kofi Omaboe, Shreya K.C., Steve Misati, sumarni Laman and Francisco Lara-Fletes. We always start the call with a bit of a check-in, what have we been up to and how are we today, that sort of thing. The stories we hear are extraordinary from spending weeks at climate conferences, all-nighter negotiations, mangrove activations with entire communities, and stories of empowering youth and indigenous communities to defend their land. I leave those calls with my cup full, inspired by the dedication and hope these young people bring to the world. Looking ahead to 2025, we will be transitioning to Global Fund for Children as our new fiscal home. A very big thank you to Global Greengrants Fund, especially Marie Michelle Chung and Beth Benedict for supporting and guiding us with so much care this year. We will miss you! If you'd like to see what we've been up to and learn more about what we have planned for next year check out our Annual Report.
🌍 Our 2024 Annual Report is HERE! 📖 As we come to the end of our third year as The Iris Project, we’re proud to share our 2024 Annual Report with you. Since the start of The Iris Project, we have: 🌎 Supported 20 projects across 13 countries 💜 Positively impacted over 15,200 people 🌳 Helped #restore over 50 hectares of land 💰 Directed £645,371 towards amplifying youth-led projects But that’s not all– there’s so much more ahead.
