It’s the holiday season! We can think of nothing better to give your loved ones than the gift of electric cooking. Here’s our guide to some of the best induction and electric cooking accessories out there. ⭐A Good Nonstick Fry Pan Everyone needs a basic nonstick pan, if not a set of them. Check out reviewing sites like Wirecutter or Choice to find reasonably priced options that work on induction. ⭐Cast Iron Dutch Oven Just because you’re cooking on induction doesn’t mean you need to give up the joys of dutch ovens! There are many great cast iron options out there–it’s an impressive gift that won't break the bank. ⭐A Portable Induction Cooktop Small enough to fit in cramped kitchens but powerful enough to boil water in seconds, you can instantly elevate the kitchen of a loved one with a portable cooktop. This is a particularly great gift for someone who’s about to go through a home renovation. ⭐An Air Fryer Cooktops aren’t the be-all end-all of electric cooking. Air fryers have been all the rage for years now, as health-conscious consumers have realised their power to crisp up anything from potatoes to chicken.

It takes a village to drive sustainability in the built environment at scale, and we can say with confidence that this year, you all helped us deliver. In an effort to cater to end of year fatigue, we asked our very own Davina Rooney, to speak to her highlights from A Year in Focus - our annual Green Star report. We are pleased that the Yarra Council in Victoria, Australia has launched new subsidies for residents that hold concession or healthcare cards, offering them up to $3,000 to electrify their homes. This is the kind of policy we’d like to see governments all over the world adopt to ensure everyone has access to the benefits of an all-electric home. And, by extending subsidies even further so they apply to commercial kitchens, councils could make the transition easier for business owners as well. We love this! In Denver, Colorado children are learning how to cook food sustainably through a Masterchef-style competition. Kids as young as 6 will compete against each other to cook the tastiest dishes. And, of course, all of the food will be cooked on induction. “We actually can get more heat in the home cooking with induction than we can with even gas,” Chef Andrew Forlines, who works with the city on cooking electrification, told ABC 7 Denver. “So we're able to have high efficiency, directed, consistent, precise heating. It's also going to be highly efficient and carbon free.” “This technology is tested and trusted. It's been around for over 100 years, but it's just now starting to gain traction here in the states,” Forlines added. “Europe is much further ahead with the market share. And so we really just want to get everyone used to it, and also de-stigmatize the idea of electric cooking for home cooking, when people think of gas being the best.” The event will also solicit feedback from the community about what kind of rebates or subsidies would help them electrify their home kitchens. It’s a win-win for everyone involved! Read more about the competition at the link below👇

Check out this important data from Rewiring Australia 👀 Going electric can make cooking cheaper, safer and faster! #thefutureiselectric
Want cheaper, safer, and just as delicious cooking? 😋 Cooktops are often the last appliance to be upgraded from gas, so homes are stuck paying connection fees for this single appliance. Rewiring Australia modelling shows Victorian households who upgrade to efficient, electric induction cooktops save on energy costs - not to mention the health benefits that come with gas-free cooking. This month, GCC is celebrating an important milestone–it’s two years since our Coalition launched! We are now proud to represent 34 chef ambassadors, 26 member organisations, 3 government supporters and 8 partner companies with property portfolios and funds under management worth $284 billion AUD. And we’re growing all the time. In the last two years we’ve held events in some of Australia and the UK’s most exciting restaurants, with some of the world’s most respected and innovative chefs, illustrating first hand why induction is the future of cooking. We’ve hosted groundbreaking meetings with government decision makers and industry leaders to push forward electrification. And we’ve worked with scientists and advocates who are committed to ensuring we can all breathe healthy air in our homes. To all of you who are part of the Coalition and who support our work–thank you. Together, we will create a future where safe, efficient, and fossil-fuel free cooking is available to everyone. #thefutureiselectric
