📢During these uncertain times for the automotive industry, Chris Heron, Julia Poliscanova (she/her) and Lucie Mattera have come together to present a clear roadmap of best practices for upholding Europe’s 2035 CO2 standards. Two important points: 👉🏼 By 2025, Europe expects the arrival of at least a dozen EV models priced under $25,000, produced by local brands like Renault Group, Škoda Auto, and Fiat Professional; 👉🏼European policymakers must urgently implement a robust automotive industrial package to support CO2 standards and ensure European companies can compete effectively with China and other global players 🧐Discover their recommendations on public charging infrastructure and energy prices in the EuroActive article—link in the comments below.
With the EU’s car CO2 targets under pressure, read our shared article today on why strengthening efforts not slowing down is necessary for decarbonisation and growth. Link in the comment below ⬇️ Lucie Mattera, Julia Poliscanova (she/her), and myself have combined forces to call on EU policymakers to reconfirm the CO2 targets and keep their investment certainty in place, while working with urgency to improve Europe’s electric vehicle demand and competitiveness. It’s a concerning week, with the European Parliament’s EPP Group considering calling for the “reversal” of the EU’s 2035 targets, and a growing number of Member States doing the same. On the other hand the European Commission has consistently defended the importance of these targets for our long-term industrial goals. Our key message is on certainty, which the whole ecosystem needs for confirming their long-term investments - whether vehicle manufacturers, charging point operators, or battery suppliers. Europe already isn’t the easiest place to do business in - let’s focus on improving that with a real industrial policy on battery investment, charging acceleration, energy prices and more. Plus car buyers around Europe are getting really confused about what they should do next!
