Join us tomorrow (12/17) at 10AM PT to learn about Government Funding for Climate Tech! I'm so excited for our second Community Event in the Enduring Planet and Friends series! Together with Planeteer Capital, we'll be hosting a 90 minute deep dive (and therapy session) on the government funding landscape in Climate. We’ll break down what to expect of Federal funding given our new political reality, plus dive deeper into the State (and County/Municipal) funding that’s stepping up to fill the potential void. We'll also dig into the tactical and practical considerations of securing government funding across sources. And as always, we'll have plenty of time for Q&A. I'll be moderating, with guests: Joel Armin-Hoiland of Climate Finance Solutions, Susan Gladwin of U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Emily Morris of Emrgy Inc., Erik Stokes of California Energy Commission, and Julia Kumari Drapkin of ISeeChange. It's gonna be a good time, come one, come all! Sign up 👇

𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐩. That’s the topic of the latest 𝘗𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘰𝘴𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘪𝘵 episode, and frankly this is a topic that everyone needs to be discussing right now. We are building things that have never been built before. We are solving challenges that have never been solved before. Addressing climate change requires 𝘴𝘶𝘣𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭 financial investment. US Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen suggests that achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 necessitates 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐱𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 $3 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧. 𝘏𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳, in their own study, Moody's Corporation states that current funding levels fall significantly short, with 𝐚 𝐠𝐚𝐩 𝐨𝐟 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 $2.7 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 projected by 2030. This shortfall hampers efforts to mitigate climate impacts and underscores the need for increased investment from both public and private sectors to build a sustainable future. My guest this week brings one solution to the table. Dimitry Gershenson is the CEO and co-founder of Enduring Planet, a fintech platform that offers founder-friendly working capital and financial advisory services to climate startups and SMEs. Prior to Enduring Planet, Dimitry led M&A and served as COO for Rango Wireless, an Enduring Ventures portfolio company. Before that, Dimitry built Meta's Energy Access program, a $15M+ investing initiative that enabled energy access for 3M people and unlocked nearly $500M in additional capital in underserved markets like Kenya and India Beyond his role at Enduring Planet, Dimitry sits on the board of Ecosafi, the Better Cooking Company , a Lowercarbon-backed climate startup enabling clean cooking in emerging markets. Fundraising is a longer and harder process than ever before, and likely will remain this way for quite some time. This is not only true for climate startups, but broadly across the venture-backed ecosystem. When investors’ expectations around metrics are only getting higher, how can founders drive revenue growth and control burn at the same time? For this week's Insight, we sat down with Nate Williams of Union Labs Ventures to go deep on how founders can navigate this delicate balance. Check it out 👇
