Really resonated with us given the work we are doing at bookend.ai. This shift requires a different way of building and selling software, supporting customers and growing the business. Not everyone is onboard yet given some of the questions I get like "But what user interface is your customer using everyday?", "What SaaS tool are you building to run their workflows?", or "So, is this a product or a services business?". We are building a compelling product business that delivers valuable outcomes for our customers. Our customer, BrainBox AI, just launched a first-of-its-kind generative AI-powered virtual building assistant built on Amazon Bedrock. The assistant can carry out tasks like adjusting building temperature, identifying failing equipment, and more—all to improve energy efficiency and lower carbon emissions for commercial buildings. The cofounder and CTO of this fast-growing startup says one of the biggest benefits of Bedrock is the ability to switch between leading foundation models at any time, even in the middle of a project. Keeping large language models on-topic can be a challenge. You don't want your finance chatbot handing out spurious stock tips, and I'm sure Amazon probably doesn't really want you to uses their review search box to find out facts about Obama. Here at Bookend.ai, we've been working hard on reinforcement learning through AI feedback (RLAIF) techniques that can be layered onto models to avoid domain-specific topics and redirect the conversation to ones more appropriate to your use-cases. Hot off the model forges here at Bookend.ai, this week we produced the first in our line of finance-specific LLMs, with a svelte 2bn parameter model that bests models over twenty times its size. Over the next few weeks and months, we'll be using our platform's improvements to dataset curation and augmentation, training, and reinforcement learning to create a suite of best-in-class models in finance and other domains…

What a ride this startup journey has been already. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to make sure it is real. This is one of those moments. We are incredibly thrilled to add some amazing people to bookend.ai's leadership team. Terence Spies has joined us as our Chief Security Officer. Terence is a veteran in the cyber security space and was the architect behind key security frameworks over the last 20+ years at places including Microsoft, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, and Voltage Security. He is incredibly passionate about this topic and will be driving our Safe AI strategy as we push to enable enterprises to leverage Generative AI safely and easily. Grant Ingersoll has come onboard as our Chief Technology Officer. I have been a long time fan of Grant and his incredible work in open source, AI, search and analytics. Grant is an accomplished technical leader having previously served as CTO at Wikimedia Foundation . He brings a ton of experience that will be critical for us as we move into the next chapter in our evolution as a company. Ben Sprecher has joined us as our Chief Product Officer. Ben is an experienced product leader and technologist who I had the pleasure of working with at Google Cloud. I got to witness his passion for solving challenging customer problems and building innovative products while working with him in the #googlecloud AI organization. Ben is also a successful startup founder including an exit to Google. We are lucky to have Ben leading product development and innovations at bookend.ai.
