😅 Research and me? For the longest time, 𝗜 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗵𝗗𝘀. I was scared, felt not-ready, and often just not good enough to contribute to AI research. But after almost 8 years of experience in the field of NLP working on some of the most challenging use cases in a variety of domains, like Media, Ad-Tech, and now Finance, I have come to realize that the 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹-𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. So I made a conscious effort to spend most of my time after work hours diving into research in an area I am most interested in, 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗜. To make AI growth sustainable, risk-free, and fair for all, it is more critical than ever that evaluation of these LLMs and Gen AI applications no longer remains an afterthought. I’m so thrilled to announce that my first paper, co-authored with Daniela M., Associate Director of Research and Technology Initiatives, Georgetown University; and Affiliated Researcher, MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL)) has been accepted for a poster presentation at the ACM, Association for Computing Machinery's ICAIF'24 #AI4F conference! Our Paper titled: 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻: 𝗠𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗜’𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 highlights the need for evaluation by design, an inter-disciplinary system that embeds monitoring from day one of system development, enabling organizations to build capabilities to 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗔𝗜’𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀. This ensures real-time, evidence-based evaluations that inform decision-making, helping mitigate not only technical risks but also maximizing positive societal and environmental outcomes. I look forward to exploring this path and contributing to meaningful advancements in 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗜 𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 📅 Key Dates: November 14th (Thu), 2024, 1:00 - 5:30 PM EST 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝘂𝘀!
