This week, Aspen Environmental Group team members began fieldwork on the Moraga-Oakland X Project for the California Public Utilities Commission. This project, proposed by Pacific Gas and Electric Company, involves upgrading approximately 5 miles of two existing double-circuit transmission lines with overhead and underground segments between Moraga and downtown Oakland. Aspen biologists recently conducted snorkel surveys at one of our project sites to assess the population, health, and habitat of translocated Santa Ana sucker. Santa Ana sucker are considered a threatened species under the Endangered Species Act, and monitoring of their habitat is essential to the survival of the species.
