The Journey... In 2023, I decided to pivot into the world of tech, stepping out of my comfort zone and enrolling at AltSchool Africa for a diploma in Product Management. The decision wasn’t easy, but I was determined to expand my skill set and understand how tech could shape the future of business and innovation. The one-year program at AltSchool Africa was amazing. It equipped me with critical product management skills and gave me hands-on experience in building and managing products. I learned how to work across departments, think critically, and make data-driven decisions that have the power to influence real-world outcomes. Today, I’m excited to share that I recently received a certificate as one of the finalists at the just concluded Cohort-5 internships at InternPulse! The onboarding experience has been nothing short of amazing, and since joining on October 15th, I’ve had the privilege of working with a team of brilliant minds, all of whom are shaping the future of tech with their diverse skill sets. At InternPulse, we worked on several tasks and a groundbreaking project called Renergy Hub – a digital marketplace connecting sellers and buyers of renewable energy products such as solar panels, inverter batteries, and wind turbines. Our mission is to streamline the process of purchasing, financing, and distributing clean energy solutions across Nigeria. Learning so much from my team of amazing colleagues like Sylvia Ogbonna Ifeoluwa G. AIYEDE Eberechi Uwakeme Farouk Salawu Williams Iluobe Olamide Anifowoshe Fatimah Yusuf Blessedsarah Omolola, Blessing Okomor, CPM, TPM and one of the best project manager I know, Henrietta Ogochukwu Okechukwu (Hariet). Thank you to AltSchool Africa, InternPulse, and John Diginee for this incredible opportunity. Let’s build something amazing! #ProductManagement #TechInnovation #Sustainability #Altschool #Internpulse

Every successful data system starts with a strong foundation, and as data engineers, our job is to build that foundation through a well thought out lifecycle. When we talk about data engineering lifecycle, think of it as the process of turning raw, scattered data into something powerful that drives decisions. It’s not just about writing code or setting up pipelines, it’s about designing an architecture that can handle the demands of today and scale for tomorrow. The process starts with understanding, what kind of data are we dealing with? What’s the goal? Without a clear purpose, it’s easy to build something flashy but inefficient. From there, it’s about creating pipelines that move data smoothly and ensuring the infrastructure is not only robust but also cost effective. Designing and building a strong data architecture isn’t just technical. You need to think about data quality, governance, and how your choices will impact others who rely on your systems, like analysts or machine learning engineers. This is why the lifecycle isn’t a one time process. It’s a loop, an ongoing process of monitoring, optimizing, and scaling as the organization grows. So, when next you’re building or designing a system, don’t just focus on the now. Think about the bigger picture. How can you ensure your architecture stands the test of time, meets business goals, and makes life easier for everyone relying on it? Data engineering isn’t just about pipelines, it’s about building systems that create value. DataInno Analytics #datalifecycle #dataarchitecture #dataengineering

The wrong keywords on your resume can cost you big, here’s what you need to know. Did you know that the words you use in your resume could make or break your chances of landing a job? That’s right, some keywords could be the reason your resume gets overlooked by recruiters or applicant tracking systems (ATS). HERE'S WHY: 💡 Using Generic Keywords Words like “hardworking,” “team player,” or “dedicated” sound great but don’t add much value. Recruiters see these phrases on almost every resume, so they don’t stand out. Instead, use action-oriented words like “collaborated,” “implemented,” or “achieved,” paired with measurable results. For example, instead of saying, “dedicated to team success,” write, “collaborated with a team of 5 to complete a $100K project on time.” 💡 Missing Industry-Specific Terms A recent survey by CareerBuilder revealed that 75% of employers use ATS to screen resumes. These systems look for specific keywords related to the job. If your resume lacks industry-specific terms like “data analytics,” “JavaScript,” or “UX research,” it might not even reach a recruiter’s desk. Review the job description and include keywords directly from it, but ensure they match your actual experience. 💡 Overloading Buzzwords On the flip side, stuffing your resume with buzzwords can hurt you too. Phrases like “synergized workflows” or “leveraged cutting-edge strategies” might sound impressive but can come across as fluff. Keep it clear, concise, and aligned with the role you’re applying for. 💡 Ignoring Power Words Research shows resumes that include strong verbs like “led,” “increased,” and “optimized” are more likely to catch a recruiter’s attention. According to LinkedIn data, using action verbs can improve your chances of landing an interview by 30%. 💡 Using Irrelevant Jargon Tailor your language to the job. For example, if you’re applying for a marketing role, avoid using technical IT terms unless they’re relevant. This ensures your resume speaks the same “language” as the recruiter and hiring manager. KEY TAKEAWAY Your resume isn’t just a list of what you’ve done, it’s a story about how your skills match the job. The right keywords make that connection clear. So, read the job description carefully, tailor your resume for each application, and focus on using action-oriented, relevant terms. 💡 Pro Tip: Use free tools like Jobscan or SkillSyncer to analyze your resume’s compatibility with the job description.
