ITU User Account & TIES Services

Sign in to your user account or create a new account here: ITU User Account

ITU has a new User Account platform. This means that the web interface for user account creation and management has changed. Other services remain the same.

The new platform improves the user experience and brings enhancements for the TIES Focal Points to manage Users and TIES access rights within their organizations/entities.

ITU User Accounts are free of charge and allow you to register for ITU events, subscribe to ITU mailing lists, access the ITU Bookshop, and use certain applications of ITU sectors.

TIES (Telecommunication Information Exchange Service) is a set of networked information resources and services offered by ITU without any charge to ITU Members (Member States, Sector Members, Associates, Academia, and UN System) to support their participation in the activities of the Union.

An ITU user account is required to request TIES access that must subsequently be approved by the corresponding TIES Focal Point.

WHAT'S NEW?

More secure and controlled process. New Users who wish to associate their ITU User Account to an ITU-member organization will require the validation of the respective organization’s TIES Focal Point. The new platform allows TIES Focal Points to process new affiliation requests as well as to remove any existing affiliation within their organizations. This is a change from the current system where validation only takes place when requesting TIES access.

Please note: Affiliation validation is required for new users to be able to register to ITU events.

TIES Focal Points will continue approving/rejecting TIES access requests upon user’s requests. Additionally, it is now possible to:

    1. Assign/remove TIES access rights and
    2. Designate a new TIES Focal Point within the organization.

The ITU Focal Point of the organization will have the same access rights as the TIES Focal Point (so will be able to approve/reject affiliation and TIES access requests). However, the email notifications for new affiliations and TIES access requests will be sent only to the TIES Focal Point.

Existing accounts will be maintained. However, for security reasons, all users will be required to reset their password the first time they log in to the new platform.

ITU Focal Point & TIES Focal Point

ITU Focal Points are the main recipients of official ITU communications, including but not limited to Circular Letters and Invitations.

They are the main point of contact with the ITU: they are responsible for communicating all relevant official changes regarding their organization to the ITU so that records can be kept up-to-date.

ITU Focal Points are encouraged to assign a different person as TIES Focal Point to deal with Affiliation and TIES requests. In that instance, the ITU Focal Point of the organization will continue to have the same access rights as the TIES Focal Point (so will be able to approve/reject affiliation and TIES access requests). However, the email notifications for new affiliations and TIES access requests will only be sent to the TIES Focal Point.

In each organization/company there is a TIES Focal Point responsible for:
a) Approving/rejecting affiliation requests
b) Approving/rejecting requests for TIES Access
c) Maintaining the list of users affiliated to that organization

As an ITU Focal Point, you can only change the ITU Focal Point by contacting us at [email protected] (for Member States) or [email protected] (for all others).

A TIES Focal Point or ITU Focal Point, you can change the TIES Focal Point of your organization by logging in to your account and following these steps:

  1. Go to “Manage my users” in the top menu.
  2. Go to “Change TIES Focal Point” in the left-hand side menu.
  3. Locate the person you wish to assign as new TIES Focal Point, either by using the search function or scrolling through the list (please note the person must already have TIES access).
  4. Click on the “Set as TIES FP” button.

You will get a pop-up asking you to confirm and informing you that your rights as TIES Focal Point will be lost after the change.

For any questions regarding TIES Focal Points you can contact [email protected] (for Member States) or [email protected] (for all others).
