The Orange-Cinnamon Amaro Spritz is a citrus-and-spice spritz cocktail that features bittersweet amaro, a cinnamon-infused simple syrup, orange and lemon juices, and club soda. It’s a lower-ABV drink that remains refreshing while offering subtle, warming flavors.

From baked goods to seasonal candles, cinnamon and citrus are a match made in heaven. Cinnamon has a sweet, aromatic, and sometimes smoky flavor that balances the tart flavors of orange and lemon juices.

Amaro, a bittersweet Italian herbal liqueur made with a blend of spices and herbs, can run the gamut from ultra-bitter to bright and citrusy. For this drink, a sweeter-style amaro, Amaro Montenegro, provides a flavor profile that blends seamlessly with the other ingredients. Since Amaro Montenegro by itself offers notes of orange peel, lemon, and a touch of vanilla, it makes for the perfect alcoholic base for this simple spritz.

Why the Orange-Cinnamon Amaro Spritz works

While many amaro spritz cocktails feature a combination of sparkling wine and club soda for their bubbly components, this drink leans on flavorless seltzer to help highlight the other ingredients present in the drink.

Since the amaro and cinnamon syrup both bring a lot of sweetness, the lemon and orange juices provide balance and a hit of freshness.

The bubbles in the club soda amplify the flavors in the cocktail, giving the Orange-Cinnamon Amaro Spritz a lovely, fragrant aroma. This drink gets garnished with fresh orange and lemon slices and a whole cinnamon stick to further perfume the cocktail.
