Food & Wine's Editorial Guidelines Published on March 21, 2024 Photo: Food & Wine / Amazon If you haven’t heard, Amazon is having a massive sale right now — called the Big Spring Sale — and there are deals on just about everything. And while I write about these deals for a living, my dad (the best shopper I know) is even more excited about the deep discounts. He has already gone through and picked eight standout deals he’s picking up for his kitchen, including a new meat thermometer and a set of pasta bowls. Ready to shop? Keep reading to see what he’s grabbing. What My Dad’s Shopping During Amazon’s Big Spring Sale Meater Plus, $80 (originally $100) All-Clad Set of 2 Hard Anodized Nonstick Frying Pans, $56 (originally $110) Grillart Grill Brush, $15 (originally $30) Y Yhy 30-Ounce Pasta Bowls, Set of 6, $36 (originally $50) Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker, $79 (originally $100) Garcima 16-Inch Paella Pan, $39 (originally $52) Henckels 8-Inch Chef’s Knife, $47 (originally $116) Kitchellence 4-in-1 Knife Sharpener, $10 (originally $13) Meater Plus Amazon $100 $80 at Amazon I could go on and on about why my dad loves this thermometer, but here’s the main reason: It means he can work and grill at the same time. Thanks to its Bluetooth connection and iPhone app, he can monitor his steaks while they're on the grill from his home office. He even gets a little alarm when they’re done, so he can get off the Zoom call to take his steaks off the heat. It’s a genius invention for the modern-day griller. All-Clad Set of 2 Hard Anodized Nonstick Frying Pans Amazon $110 $56 at Amazon My parents are renovating their kitchen. Well, they’ve been saying that for years. But they must finally be serious because my dad is grabbing this new set of All-Clad pans while he can for nearly half-off. This set comes with two nonstick frying pans from All-Clad, a brand which rarely goes on sale, and he says he’s planning on putting the extra money towards the new wood floors. Grillart Grill Brush Amazon $30 $17 at Amazon If you haven’t guessed already, my dad loves to grill. He’s not the cleanest cook — I once saw my dog licking the grease trap on the grill, for example. But even he knows it’s important to clean the grill every now and again, which is why he swears by this grill brush. It cleans grates so much faster than anything else he’s tried. Cleaning the grease trap is another problem, but I guess it’s probably fine if your dog licks it up (I’m not a vet, though). Y Yhy 30-Ounce Pasta Bowls, Set of 6 Amazon $50 $36 at Amazon My parents are also taking this kitchen renovation as a chance to get new dinnerware, and my dad was pleased to find these pasta bowls were over 25% off. They are one of Food & Wine’s favorite pasta bowls thanks to their size, durability, and versatility. He already owns a few, and ever since the rest of his dinnerware has been collecting dust. So now, he’s going all in. Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker Amazon $100 $79 at Amazon My dad loves ice cream. As in, he has five paintings of ice cream cones and a secret stash of cones in the pantry. Now that my brother has officially moved out of the house, he has some extra room, and he’s taking advantage by grabbing this Cuisinart ice cream maker. He’ll probably only make vanilla, but you can use it to make some pretty wild inventions, if you’re up to it. Garcima 16-Inch Paella Pan Amazon $52 $39 at Amazon Once a week for family dinner, my dad cooks paella. His old pan started to warp, so he’s grabbing this Food & Wine favorite while it’s just over $40 during Amazon’s Big Spring Sale. It’s made of carbon steel, has a 16-inch diameter, and will be perfect over his grill. Will he be able to finally master socarrat? Only time will tell. Henckels 8-Inch Chef’s Knife Amazon $116 $47 at Amazon Like any good home cook, my dad uses a chef’s knife just about every time he cooks. Once he saw this deal though, he started making room on his knife block. Henckels is a trusted brand for a reason — it makes high-quality, razor-sharp blades. He’s really excited to grab this now that it’s under $50. Kitchellence 4-in-1 Knife Sharpener Amazon $13 $10 at Amazon This last product isn’t something my dad is buying himself. But after visiting home and seeing him try to sharpen a knife on his honing rod, I’ve decided he needs a safer way to revive his blades. I love that this is a countertop knife sharpener, which comes with a glove that makes it nearly impossible to cut yourself. He’ll probably figure out a way to outsmart the glove, but hey, it’s the thought that counts. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why!
