Jennifer V. Cole Location: Sicily, Italy Jennifer V. Cole is a freelance writer, editor, and culinary travel consultant based in Sicily, Italy. She served as the deputy editor at Southern Living for nearly a decade. In addition to Food & Wine, her work has appeared in Garden & Gun, Eater, Fast Company, Coastal Living, Travel + Leisure, Esquire, Punch, Modern Farmer, and more. Cole co-authored Chasing the Gator (2018) with chef Isaac Toups, which was nominated for an IACP Julia Child First Book Award in 2019. Experience After college, Jennifer made her way to New York where she landed at TIME magazine, then took an editor position at Travel + Leisure. Cole's work has led to many adventures over the years — from climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro to riding an elephant through the jungles of Thailand to sailing on gulets over the Aegean Sea — on a mission to eat her way around the world. In addition to her travels, she has worked extensively in publishing: Cole launched and served as editor-in-chief of Baked from Scratch, published Fodor's Sicily guidebook (2022), edited the "American South" Wildsam Field Guide, and does Italian-English translation work for Conde Nast publications, such as Architectural Digest and GQ. Cole also served on the James Beard Foundation's Restaurant & Chef Committee for nine years and was the founding editor and producer of the Southern Living "Biscuits & Jam" video and concert music series. Education Jennifer graduated from Auburn University with a triple major in Economics, French, and German.
