Fany Gerson Fany Gerson is a chef, teacher, and cookbook author. She founded La Newyorkina, a catering company, roving food truck, and restaurant in Brooklyn, along with Fan Fan Doughnuts. Experience Fany Gerson was born and raised in Mexico City and has worked in a range of fine-dining kitchens around the world, including Akelare in San Sebastian, Spain; and Rosa Mexicano, La Côte Basque, and Eleven Madison Park in New York.In 2009, Gerson traveled and researched in Mexico, ultimately publishing "My Sweet Mexico" and introducing La Newyorkina paletas at Hester Street Fair in 2010. The business has grown to offer more Mexican sweets and Fan Fan Doughnuts in Brooklyn. Education Gerson graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1998.
