It's a new "Creamy Sriracha Sauce" — a take on the type of Thai hot sauce that has garnered a huge cult following in the West.

There's no word yet from Subway on whether the sauce is a permanent fixture or if it's just being tested right now.

"[It] took on a more subdued color from the original’s bright red, it had a mayo-like consistency and was less sweet and much more spicy. The mayo-ish Sriracha blended exquisitely with the mustard, adding a delightful kick to my so-so Subway sandwich."

Fast food chains collect massive amounts of data about food trends and this is a sign that sriracha may be becoming an even bigger force in the sauce world.

After all, Subway is a global food giant with more than 38,000 restaurants worldwide. That's even more than fast food monolith McDonald's.
