Improvement skills and approaches will be crucial to the successful implementation of the 10 Year Health Plan. Our recent workshop gathered insight including what is needed to utilise the full benefit of Q and the improvement movement. The Q members who attended the workshop highlighted what would be needed to ensure the full value of improvement approaches could be utilised for successful implementation. They particularly identified the need to: - Ensure those working on improvement can connect and share learning and insights - Give those leading improvement greater profile and credibility - Evolve core health sector incentives to support effective improvement - Develop improvement capability at different levels and across all sectors - Invest in development for organisational and local system leaders - Embed improvement within self-improving organisations and systems - Build on existing improvement assets Find out more about the workshop and insights from the community: https://brnw.ch/21wPwOK

The government has promised to make productivity a central focus of the 10-year Health Plan. But to succeed, productivity must be framed as a way of enhancing quality of care. Improvement leaders and practitioners have a crucial role to play. Our joint analysis with the Health Foundation identifies five key actions for policymakers, and organisation, system and improvement leaders to develop and implement a more holistic, quality-focused approach to productivity. As well as a new narrative to guide this work, a greater awareness is required of the interconnected approaches and elements that enable sustained improvement. Opportunities for wide-scale collaboration in areas where improvement methods offer particular promise also need to be exploited. Finally, there needs to be a focus on ensuring improvement and the principles underpinning it are sustained over time. Read more: https://lnkd.in/ezqXkwsT

Try a new #LiberatingStructure with us tomorrow! Our Liberating Structures group meet monthly to try out new Liberating Structures in a safe and welcoming space. In December's meet up, we'll be identifying obstacles and opportunities for progress with Ecocycle Planning. What is Ecocycle Planning? 💡 You’ll formulate action steps linked to each phase: actions that accelerate growth during the birth phase, actions that extend life or increase efficiency during the maturity phase, actions that prune dead wood or compost rigid practices during the creative destruction phase, actions that connect creative people or prepare the ground for birth during the renewal phase. This process can help eliminate or mitigate common bottlenecks that stifle performance by sifting your team/project’s portfolio of activities, identifying which elements are starving for resources and which ones are rigid and hampering progress. The Ecocycle makes it possible to spur agility, resilience and sustained performance by including all four phases of development in the planning process. Whether you're new to Liberating Structures or not, join us to explore in a friendly setting. Book: https://brnw.ch/21wPbLu

We had a brilliant day with Salesforce last week at our first #QVisit exploring strategy. Thanks for your excellent summary, Dimitri Varsamis PhD 👇
🪇 Under The Sea or 🎵 A Whole New World, high up above the clouds? Both, it seems, when you are in #SalesforceTower in London! (hence my collage) 🧑💼 My 3rd role in the #NHS, at the Healthcare Commission (R.I.P.) had a focus on #regulatorystrategy, and I was hooooked! Didn’t look back. 🦘 So I jumped at the opportunity to hear from Salesforce on how they engage colleagues from the whole organisation towards an aligned #corevision and objectives: 💠Autonomy is the word-du-jour in the NHS as the way to hyper-localise care planning and delivery; on the other hand, others would argue that, at a 60m population, much more can be achieved by a ‘top-down’ programme setting and delivery approach. 💠We were treated to a masterclass of how other organisations balance these forces, starting with the 🪖military mission command: centralised intent but decentralised execution. 💠We focused on the #V2MOM framework used by #Salesforce as a roadmap to create plans, turn them into execution and ultimately into results. 💠We will all recognise commonly used categories of focus here: · Vision — what do you want to achieve? · Values — what’s important to you? · Methods — how will you do it? · Obstacles — what could get in your way? · Measures — how will you know if you are successful? 💠What is particularly interesting is how this model brings all these TOGETHER, and is used across the organisation by ALL staff, to summarise what each person is doing, and then communicate it clearly to the entire company. 💠🙏 Thank you to George Griffin for leading the session and Jane Tyacke for hosting us and delivering this event. George's summary here: https://lnkd.in/dtErpASw ⭕This was a #QVisit organised by The Q community of The Health Foundation for #QCommunity members (thank you Julia Slay, Gwenno Edwards and colleagues). While some of us were in the room, many more attended online in this smoothly-delivered #hybrid event. ⭕I have been a member of Q for many years; thousands across the UK and Ireland, collaborating to improve the safety and quality of healthcare, with a focus on #improvement. ⭕Among other activities, #QCommunity members can apply for #funding to support continued #collaborativeworking that strengthen networks and applied learning (I am an assessor for these 😏) https://lnkd.in/dj2zPFNX NHS England, Healthcare Improvement Scotland, Health and Social Care Northern Ireland , Improvement Cymru, Health Service Executive #healthcareleadership
