Last week, The AA's Fleet Director, Duncan Webb, attended the BVRLA as part of their Industry Outlook Conference 2024. Duncan was joined by other industry experts including: Ben Boot from Kwik-Fit (GB) Ltd, Daniel Layne from QV Systems, Steve Thornton from i247 Group, Marc Lees from epyx Limited and led by Panel Chair Vincent St Claire from Fleet Assist to debate the needs and challenges of the Fleet sector. Today, our B2B Marketing team are at the #JUICE event, provided by GREENFLEET, networking and collaborating with delegates and discussing the progress companies have already made towards #netzero 2035. 🍋 Melanie Shufflebotham from Zapmap stated that: “…the industry is still battling many EV myths, whilst sales continue to increase rapidly… numbers of EV drivers charging at the roadside continue to fall with most choosing to charge at home. [We’ve] also seen a 5% increase in reliability of chargers, from 92-97%.” 🍊 Vicky Read from ChargeUK outlined how “…accessibility is improving, but with all mass-scale roll-outs this will take time to work through… we also have to highlight that the EV industry is part of the solution for government and not part of a problem.” 🍋🟩 Simon Cordery from Places for London announced today a brand new joint venture with Fastned to provide charging hubs for Transport for London sites. Simon and his team are “leading the way in ‘open-sourcing’ for charging facilities in London with plans for over 400 charging sites around the South East. ⚡️ Craig Sharp from National Grid outlined the costs and process of installing grid connections for new charging facilities. Clare Nicol from Compleo UK joined an expert panel and share her experience of installing chargers for businesses and the challenges with hotels and workplaces. In the second session we heard from Richard Mallender from @theenergysavingtrust, Ed Curwen from Motability Operations Ltd, Naomi Jane Nye from Drax Electric Vehicles ⚡ vehicles and Lorna McAtear from the Association of Fleet Professionals (AFP) and National Grid on the subjects of: accessible charging posts for less able users, the “new” role of the fleet manager which now includes car park charging infrastructure… Questions from the audience included the topics of: accommodation for LCV charging as well as cars, leasing and rental options, maintaining competitiveness across the CPO market, cost-effective ultra rapid charging enablement, new legislation on payment facilities and processing reliability. In the afternoon we honed down on the challenges and opportunities for commercial vehicles and data, hearing from GRIDSERVE , Cenex and Oxfordshire County Council and Sara Sloman from Paythru, and the REA all under the skilful guidance of Kate Armitage. 👏🚚🚛 Kirsty Pendleton, Esther Jones, Clive Willcocks #juice #charginginfrastructure #greenfleet #collaboration

Big news!!! The AA wins the Green Innovation Award at the What Van? Awards 2025, held at the Bankside Hilton Hotel in London this afternoon. This industry award celebrates companies who are looking to the future with confidence and The AA are #AlwaysAhead being the first UK Roadside Assistance firm to introduce fully electric LCV recovery vehicles (LCV’s) into its 3,000 strong fleet.
