When a new trend hits that isn't well defined then software providers leap to brand their technology as part of that. Back in the SOA days this had legacy integration vendors slapping ESB stickers on it quicker than David Chappell could print copies of his book. In 2025 this will happen with "Agentic" or "Agent AI", rules vendors, workflow tools, package vendors and more will all be claiming they are in fact Agentic AI. Since the introduction of the Delivery API in Umbraco 12, the amazing Umbraco community has been asking a bunch of questions on how to do this and that with the API. Today was the first day of #Sitecore's 2024 Symposium kicked off in Nashville with a fantastic keynote session at which Dave O'Flanagan, Kathie Johnson and Roger Connolly revealed Sitecore Stream - a both really impressive and super exciting take on how to supporting clients transforming their content-experience lifecycle with #AI workflows, generative copilots, and brand-aware AI to work smarter, more strategically, and securely. Best of all #SitecoreStream is available on top of the entire Sitecore product portfolio including SaaS products and Platform DXP (XM/XP) alike. This was followed by a multitude of sessions to choose from. My choices for the day included one on Sitecore's overall AI strategy and one on AI powered Generative UI, both by Mo Cherif. Two sessions covering dilemmas around bias in AI with a great panel (Megan Mueller Jensen, Daniela Militaru, Sana Kamalmaz and Vickie Bertini) Responsible AI (Noel Pennington, Zach Escabedo and Adeline Ashley) respectively. Really interesting to get both Sitecore's and #Microsoft's take on this. And finally a session emphasizing and showcasing Sitecore's promise to continuously invest in and innovate the XM/XP versions of Sitecore providing clients opportunities for the choice of technology and hosting options that suits their need best - delivered with elegance by Peter K.. Having already spent first Monday with Sitecore and the #MVP #Community at the #MvpSummit (thanks Tamas Varga) and Tuesday at the #PartnerConnect event, I have gotten even more insights from Sitecore and I can honestly say I am thrilled. Thrilled of the direction taken, innovations revealed and promises made. Dear Architects, This was a very busy week with so much great content to read or watch! Let's start with this case study from Monzo Bank engineering. They share an interesting perspective on migrating their microservices where a centralized team owns the entire migration. Latency is not too often a problem in distributed systems. However, there are always some workloads that are latency-sensitive. Think about betting or financial platforms, for instance. In this post, we explore how to reduce latency by designing well-planned networking topologies for your systems. Daniel Bryant's team has come up with a great post that summarizes the top 5 books to read in 2024 about platform engineering. I couldn't be happier to see Team Topologies, Accelerate, and Platform Strategy by Gregor Hohpe in the selection. As I often say, platforms are not only about technology decisions! Vercel has come out with a new idea to leverage #serverless services with in-function concurrency. Discover this new concept because the initial results look very promising. Last but not least, I couldn't resist sharing this podcast episode with Martin Fowler about his book on Refactoring. Establishing a C4E or Centre for Excellence when implementing Mulesoft API's is crucial to making the systems work across the whole business. Mulesoft states that: The C4E develops a hybrid between a “Platform Team” and an “Enablement Team” that is explicitly designed to support scale and governance by enabling external Stream Aligned Teams with standards and reusable tools/components. This means that by having a team that is cross-department, cross-technology and cross-business, you can utilise this team as a catalyst to implement, educate and evangelise about the new integrations, making it accessible and attractive to all within the organisation. #c4e #mulesoft #digitaltransformation

It all starts with 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁. → Run your teams as you see fit with an ownership mindset → Operating constraints → Strategic context Now lets move on to the measures: 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 Engaged as measured by • Employee satisfaction surveys    • Team health surveys    • 360 feedback    • Skip level 1:1s 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 Are teams: • Driving revenue growth    • Controlling costs 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 • Systems are stage appropriate and conform to the required levels of stability, scalability and performance.    • Technical risk/debt is actively managed and within appetite    • Close partnering with product.
