As a UK school the guidelines set out by the DfE and RPA state that cloud backups should be digitally disconnected . What does that mean for a school and why “digitally disconnected”? You see, ransomware is the worlds number 1 enemy. It destroys everything. Not just data but morale, trust, questions every IT decision in the past and renders past security investments to protect the school useless to a certain extent. It’s unfortunate but true. So having data digitally disconnected means 1) Not having it on the same LAN or network 2) Not having a site-site permanent vpn connection 3) Not having it plugged in all the time Sometimes it also means 4) Not having it on the same premesis as the data 5) Not having it on the same platform as main data (like no point backing up Microsoft 365 data to Microsoft, eggs in one basket and all) By having backups digitally disconnected allows a greater level of security when it comes to safeguarding precious data against ransomware that targets anything it can access from its point of initial entry. We mostly knew the following server role and features have been removed from the Roles and Features of the new release Windows Server Version. You’re using Windows 11 in your business and loving it, right? But if you're anything like me, there’s one thing from Windows 10 you might be missing – those nice tidy little taskbar icons. Well, an update rolling out later this year is going to grant that wish for you. Now you’ll be able to choose a smaller icon size on the taskbar. Hoorah! If you and your team like a clean and organized desktop (especially on smaller screens, like your laptops), I think you’ll love this update as much as I do. You can already shrink your taskbar icons in Windows but, at the moment, the taskbar itself stays the same size. Microsoft will be fixing this in a future update.
