Moving to Instance Metadata Service V2 is a something we should all be doing, a commitment to high security postures. TLDR V2 of the IDMS moves requests to PUT's with Auth behind every request, versus the simple GET in V1, which if your EC2 instance is comprimised, IDMS V1 can disclose plenty of information that can help an attacker traverse your environment. 60,000 #EC2 instances, custom #Terraform modules, SCP's solving a very real world problem.

Just like we had the buzz of 'cloud first' we now see 'repatriation'. The real outcome we need to focus is on 'cloud smart' and rebalancing. Cloud is not a destination but an operating model which encompasses public cloud providers as well as one's own well designed / engineered private cloud allowing for placing your workloads based on it's characteristics and data gravity. That being said, it is indeed real to see more thought being put into workload placement selection and reidentification of workloads to be brought into one's own environment by many companies. Thank you #GoogleCloudSummit and Diala Saadeh for a fantastic London summit this week. Great customer interaction and I thoroughly enjoyed the insightful presentations esp Stuart Wilson from IDC. My big 3 take aways! 1) growth in IT budgets will increase to 8% in 2025, however investment continues to be scrutinised and demonstrating accelerated time to value is as important as ever. POCs are a great way to achieve this. 2) Partners need to move with SPEED, POC to production is now days or weeks. Is your business geared up? 3) partners need to think Co-Sell. An ecosystem approach will deliver greater success. Partner -> Vendor/ISP -> Platform/marketplace -> Hyperscaler. Don’t worry about being in charge but DO ensure you are at the table. Thanks team Elastic for your commitment as ever 👍
