In Q2 of this year in the UK the average Perm Consultant made 4 placements and the average Temp Consultant made 6 placements. (UK) When we looked at the consultants at the Top 5 agencies on Recruiter Insider for Candidate Experience, we discovered that: 🚀 the average Perm Consultant there made 5 placements 🚀 the average Temp Consultant made 10 placements. In Q2 alone, the agencies with the highest candidate experience scores made 1 extra Perm placement per consultant and an 4 extra temp placements per consultant. Highlighting as always the impact candidate experience has on your placement numbers. The data doesn’t lie, an improved candidate experience means more placements. What’s one thing every SME beauty business should be doing to tackle the challenges of growth in today's market? I'll go first.... Letting go and outsourcing better - one challenge I see working with brands as a recruiter is founders or owners struggle to let go and try to do everything themselves. This ends up creating a micro-management environment, burnout on them, and the brand never progresses. Brands doing it well are not afraid to bringing in experienced people - especially consultants across NPD, Sales and Marketing to help them out on areas of the business but for short periods of time – anything from booking a few hours on the phone with someone to having them do just a day a week. It means they get great talent coming in but without the long-term commitment of a full-time salary. #startup #sme #advice

We have wanted to do something like this for a long time, but it took a while to find a partner to work with. I SO WISH WE HAD DONE THIS SOONER! However I am really excited that we have started to plant some trees. For anyone who has followed my eco chat (and at times rants) you will know that I cycle everywhere I can, have moved as close to having an Eco-home as possible, switched to electric cars, etc. Its not all perfect though, I fly frequently for example. But planting trees has to be one of the things that resonates the most with me as it goes a small way towards undoing the damage done to our environment rather than just shifting behaviours to a more sustainable footing (both are good don't get me wrong.. do both!). The thing that drew us to Trees for Life is that they have been doing this a long time! We were nervous that other schemes may be newer, less tested, trees for life have learnt a lot and have created multiple forests across huge areas of land. They also believe in biodiversity and through their grove scheme introduce a range of tree species. I also liked that it's in the UK and visitable (which wouldn't be a eco thing to do but its nice to know its there and real!). Our clients reacted incredibly well when they were told that they wouldn't be receiving an on the night corporate gift but instead a sapling in a new forest. Hopefully as with all things this forest will be a healthy metaphor for Fides and our Clients and the saplings will grow into an abundant, diverse and sustainable forest of success. #fidessearch #webringtherightpeopletogether

Are you a hunter or a farmer? Within most sales environments, it's fine to be either/or. Hunters have the resilience and determination to go out, find and win new business. Farmers manage those accounts, nurture and build on the relationship and expertly deliver the goods or service. In recruitment? It's both - always. It's one thing to go into recruitment blindly thinking its purely a sales role. Listening to Nigel the Nobhead about cold calling being a numbers game and if you throw out enough sh*t, some will stick BUT, you get in front of those clients, agree terms, promise the earth and then what? Too many people enter our industry and aren't taught the value of nurturing both client and candidate relationships for the long haul. Most can't see past todays activities and their target for the current month. These are thankfully not the majority but a few bad apples really can spoil it for the rest. If you're a hiring manager though, don't despair...there are some really great recruiters out there. Some in large national agencies, some in small independent firms. Unfortunately, the name above the door won't always guarantee you one or the other. If something doesn't feel right, trust your gut.
