Simon good points and I may just add that overall you have to consciously and provocatively seek novelty every day, professionally and personally. From taking a new route to work, to reading the trade press of industries not your own, re thinking WHAT your competition really is not who your competitors are (beyond normal marketing myopia) and defining your brand with sufficient self referential confidence in purpose, culture, ideas and ideals in the first place, so you are more driven by yourselves rather than others, which naturally liberates from the convention and replication #brandingcounselmt

Your brand strategy is at risk due to changing market trends. How will you address your client's concerns?
Brands are by definition dynamic, as associations, perception and meanings in peoples heads highly responsive to changes in market, competition, consumer psychology and behavior, popular culture in society and of course the actions and behaviors of the company the brand represents. Whilst any brand strategy aims to provide clarity, coherence and consistency of meaning and value to people, change is inevitable so any brand strategy must be built like buildings in earthquake zones...with the possibility of movement. Too fixed too brittle and the edifice cracks and breaks. Flex and responsiveness to change is essential. Having a core,long term and unyielding, is also critical. Like all in branding,every business is different Brand strategy
