I've loved seeing the total transformation in our developer experience over the last year. Kieran Mountford and the team have worked so hard, with loads of feedback from our developer customers. What's new? 🙌 Go SDK Earlier this year, we launched two new SDKs, and we’re happy to announce that our Go SDK has been tagged as v1. It joins our PHP and Node SDKs, which have already helped developers quickly and reliably integrate Paddle. We are also excited to share that our Python SDK is also nearing its v1 release. Why the UK Needs a Public Performance Dashboard for Government Metrics With the UK general election on the horizon, regardless of political views, here are my thoughts for whoever gets into power next. Picture this: a public dashboard for all government metrics, just like any decent organisation would have. Imagine if we could all easily access and track crucial metrics such as housing availability, NHS waiting times, and crime reduction efforts. Each of these metrics would have a RAG (Red, Amber, Green) status, making it crystal clear how well the government is performing in various areas. Not only would this increase transparency, but it would also allow citizens to see who is responsible for what. Just like in any well-run company, accountability is key. When performance is visible to everyone, there's a natural incentive to improve and deliver better results. Now, I know this is a bit of a pipe dream and might not happen anytime soon, but you can't deny it's a good idea. A public performance dashboard could be a game-changer for government transparency and efficiency. Let's hope the idea catches on, and we see some movement towards greater openness and accountability in the future. So, as we head to the polls, let's keep dreaming big and pushing for the kind of transparency that could truly transform our political landscape. Is it good? 💰 Monzo Bank recently made fun of a bunch of celebrities (Mark Zuckerberg, for one) in an absolutely wild viral post. 💸 Software companies PandaDoc and DocuSign were teasing each other — which led to some client loss. 👩‍💻 And that guy who posted on LinkedIn a list of B2B insights from… his marriage proposal? Oh, that’s my favorite! Surely, a lot of fun is going on, but I keep wondering if that's really good for business. People say there's no such thing as bad publicity. Tone of voice is cool, but boldness is even cooler. Yet, it seems to me that we are still figuring out the boundaries of what’s fine and what’s too risky. Delighted to say that we've got a new season of the Bear Business podcast coming, and it's not just a podcast this time around, we're flexing our production muscles with a VODcast. My first guest is an absolute analytics aficionado and you'll not want to miss out on his new software that makes measuring and improving your marketing performance an absolute breeze. Who could I possibly be talking about as 'taking a shot' at vanity metrics? 😋 I try to make the case that in a post-cookie marketing world where there is less marketing data, or to be more precise, less accurate data, things like impressions metrics and follower numbers become more interesting again. 🥳 ICP Top Trumps 🥳 Encouraging ICP adoption in the business? Maybe try some custom made Top Trumps?! Fantastic offsite with the brilliant NC Squared team yesterday - where we played some very competitive rounds of Top Trumps to drill their ICP, in alignment with their OKR of "being customer obsessed"! Their product releases have always been animal themed so I followed suit with some loosely animal themed companies 🦒🐢🦀 We then choose some key ICP categories, scored the different options, and after a little Canva design work and ChatGBT inspiration, I had 5 packs of 26 A5 Top Trumps ready to go! Feedback was great (luckily!) and the competitive fun really helped to consolidate the theory learnt that morning! 1 Win and the Wallabies are now serious contenders? This is the type of business hyperbole that gets companies in trouble. This is akin to a company making one sale in a new industry vertical after 12 months of struggling. Let's look at the data: - 10th ranked Australia vs 5th ranked England - 10 Games in '24, only the 5th win ... the other wins? Wales (and sub strength at that) twice, Georgia (noting both Wales and Georgia) not in the top 10 in world rankings), and Argentina (ranked 6th). - 4 losses against top 3 sides The breathless anticipation that with one player (albeit an amazing introduction) can take a team to contender status ... after 1 data point is ridiculous. Especially when the defense leaks so many points. In business, you wouldn't invest so heavily as many of the community is emotionally investing. If you did, you would putting yourself at significant risk. There is simply not the data to underpin that investment. One sale does not a new strategy make, nor a turn around in fortunes. Making these types of investments on scant data (and more emotions) will only cause your business to get whiplash going from one extreme to the other. Maybe Australian Rugby supporters should take heed.
