I'm in awe of Times Higher Education's brilliant data team - and thrilled that their extraordinary effort and positive impact has been recognised through the prestigious DataIQ Awards.
It is particularly gratifying that they have been recognised for their work to drive positive societal impact all over the world, across sustainable development, ethical data initiatives and equality - truly data for good.
They are shortlisted in three categories.
* Data Literacy - Best Ethical Data Initiative – with their entry “The Times Higher Education Sub-Saharan Africa University Rankings: Supporting the growth of higher education in Africa.” THE’s ground-breaking Sub-Saharan Africa Rankings have been developed in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation to provide a unique set of performance metrics and an evaluation framework specifically designed to meet the needs of African universities south of the Sahara and the goals of Africa’s Vision 2063. * Culture and Skills - Best Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Initiative – with our entry “Times Higher Education - Double DEI: How our diverse team helps improve DEI in universities around the world.” At THE we have a very strong and symbiotic focus on DEI both internally and externally. Our data team is incredibly diverse, comprising people from all over the world, primarily women, and fluent speakers of over a dozen languages and their work includes evaluating universities against #SDGs. This includes SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities). This supports hundreds of universities around the world in measurement of their DEI commitments, and supports the implementation of relevant policies and schemes.
