PhD in Mobile Computer Graphics, with a focus in the application of Parallel Computing to the mobile domain, through the creation of a Mobile Message Passing Interface and the formation of fully interconnected bluetooth mesh networks (A decade later - the Bluetooth Special Interest Group - announced a standard for bluetooth mesh communications in 2017). Devices from mobiles to PDA's, laptops and desktops could all lend their computational power to resource demanding tasks and computer graphic problems. Moreover the infrastructure also facilitated the rapid development of multiplayer games and other multimedia based applications. Issues surrounding Fault Tolerance of such an architecture were also explored.

FractalMedia - The Application of Fractals to Multimedia. This work explored the generation of fractal based computer graphics in the 2D / 3D & 4D domains. Some of the 3D work included Fractal Terrain generation. The first example of a fully computer rendered scene in a film is that of the Genisis Sequence from Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan. Fractal image compression techniques were also explored, this work was further enhanced through the use of multi-threading and workload distribution via…

Fractal image compression techniques were also explored, this work was further enhanced through the use of multi-threading and workload distribution via parallel computing in the form of the Message Passing Interface on the Boole Cluster. Data encryption was also facilitated through fractal techniques. To quote Lt. Commander Data from Star Trek: First Contact "I have isolated the main computer with a fractal encryption code, it is highly unlikely the Borg will be able to break it" - so perhaps even in the 24th century such strategies may prove useful!
