"What I love about SEO is that you can 'set it and forget it'" I wasn't going to post today because I have a million and one other things to do (who knew there was so much admin involved in organising a funeral?), but I saw the above (paraphrased) comment on another platform and I have things to say. SEO is not and never will be about 'setting and forgetting'. Even back in the day, before Google reared its head, that didn't work for long. You grabbed a number one spot on Infoseek and Alta Vista, thought all was good with the world, and before you knew it a competitor had knocked you off your top spot with a bit of nifty code changing. So you changed your website, rose above them again, and the games began... It's not that much different these days, only the tactics have changed. You might have that coveted front page spot for your ideal keyphrase now - but if you 'set and forget', you won't keep it for long. I'd also hazard a guess that if you've kept the exact position for a keyphrase without doing any more work on your site, the the keyphrase isn't all that useful, or generating business for you. SEO is an ongoing process of testing, tweaking, refreshing, and updating. It's not a 'one and done' thing - and if anyone tells you it is, then they don't understand SEO in 2024.

The Storm in the UK and SEO made £2K within 48 hours to my client during their most quite time of the year. Here’s how: The storm in the UK affected many households, breaking their fences. One of the most searched term on Google was “which fence is mine”. A few months ago, I published and optimised an article around this keyword and ranked it on the top positions of Google. This article helps homeowners know what part of the fence is theirs. After the storm hit the article received 1000’s of clicks and a lot of sales. My approach to SEO is not only about getting into competitive keywords, But about finding new ways to bring traffic and doing calculated predictions on what keywords can bring results.
