Leaving my last job was a really big and scary decision to make… especially since I loved it… but I needed a new challange, I needed some growth of my own. It’s been nearly a year since I took this job, it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made! 🤓 📚 #LearningandDevelopment #Training

During my time as an employee at Outback, I've learned many skills that will help me be productive in the workforce. One of the major skills I've developed is problem solving, especially in regards to issues other people are experiencing. I've learned to quickly and politely solve problems in regards to orders, websites/apps, third-party companies, and other issues we find in Takeaway. I've also learned when I am in over my head, and that there isn't shame in asking for help when it is necessary. I've also learned about food and workplace safety, especially in relation to handling broken glass, hot materials, and food/utensils. This training in caution and sensitivity has helped me with a sense of urgency, importance, and care around projects and objects. Manchester United Partners with Carvansons for Fragrance Workshop ⚽ Last month, Carvansons supported University Academy 92 (UA92) and Manchester United as part of a unique initiative to further enhance the learning experience of a small cohort of under-18 scholars. The programme combines football training with a business apprenticeship, helping equip young players with valuable skills that take them beyond the pitch. The project required them to research the creation of a kit cleaning product (e.g. a boot cleaner) and develop a proposal for how they would bring that product to market, which included the scent they would use for their product. Carvansons were invited to deliver sessions where the players learned about product fragrance creation, development and fragrance families. Following a great session with the players, Fragrance Evaluator Anthony Wilcock and Commercial Manager Shaun Warrington were invited to the Carrington training ground to watch the young learners deliver their final product pitch. The Level 4 Brewer End-point Assessment consists of three elements: 1) A practical brewing assessment, underpinned by brewer logbook. 2) A knowledge test. 3) A professional discussion, underpinned by brewer logbook. The assessments can be taken in any order and may be spread over more than one day. “The Question That Changed My Career (and My Life)” “Do I want to be him when I’m fifty?” It was the early 1960s when I had my first job as an apprentice grocer at William Low’s—a world devoid of prepackaged food. Items like butter and cheese came in 40-lb slabs, and bacon was cut fresh to order. It was a time before the rise of supermarkets, and everything was done by hand. I was close to completing my apprenticeship, looking forward to a raise and maybe, just maybe, a path to management if I improved my academics by attending night school. On paper, my future seemed bright. Then came the moment that stopped me in my tracks. I’ll never forget it. I was standing behind the counter, watching the assistant manager—a man who’d been in the trade for decades—leaning casually on the bacon slicer, chatting to a customer as she left the shop. There was nothing particularly unusual about the scene, but something inside me shifted. I stared at him and thought, “Do I want to be him when I’m fifty?” The answer came instantly: "No." In that split second, I realised that staying on this path, even with the promise of stability and promotion, would not lead me to the life I wanted. What life did I want? I had no idea then, but I knew then that this was not what I wanted. Sometimes, life-changing moments happen when you least expect them. For me, it wasn’t a dramatic event—just an ordinary day, a simple realisation, and a question that changed everything. What’s the question that could change your life?
