What's one thing which is so overlooked when running a google ads account? We recently audited multiple google ad accounts across various brands, they all had one thing missing - SCRIPTS! Scripts are a really useful hack to get extra insights across your google ads accounts. We mentioned the Pmax Network script by Mike Rhodes to another agency the other day, & they replied... 'so what...?'. The key is what you do with this data. For the pmax network script, you can use these insights into where you are showing & then can tailor ads to either maximise across what's best performing or tailor ads to show more across other networks which you are missing out on. WARNING **RADICAL HONESTY POST** 😅 So today marks the second day in my new journey of reducing my screentime. But you work at a computer, I hear you say! Yeah but that's the thing. I have been looking at my job as 'separate' to any screen time consumed in the morning or evening and in the endeavor of radical honesty, this became a pretty big issue for me! Those of you who know me will know I'm raw-dogging life without ADHD meds (a personal choice) and there are pros and cons to this. One of the cons is that even though I am an absolute Pro with a capital P at masking, sometimes my impulses take over and I form really bad and unhealthy habits that are hard to break. For what it's worth, when I'm with my kids, it's rare I look at my phone unless it rings but that means that when I'm not I have a million notifications and end up getting sucked in. I also love ❤️TV and film❤️ so many evenings are spent devouring HBO's latest offering or maybe a Prime Home Premier if I'm feeling spicy. I started feeling really low recently and when I thought about it, the amount of hours that my eyes were focused on a screen were really totting up😅The thing is, when you have ADHD you kind of live your life with racing thoughts every waking moment of the day and I realised that my recreational screen use was me trying to self-medicate my exceptionally busy brain, which for obvious reasons isn't great. I mean, what therapist ever recommended more screentime as a means to treat ADHD symptoms? 🤣 Ironically, I've always been really strict on my kids using devices (they only have the telly or laptop for schoolwork) and my 11 year old only has a burner phone as I don't want his social development to be stunted by a screen and internet use, which surprisingly, he's cool with. So I'm owning my shit and making a decision to reduce my out of work hours screentime down to an hour a day and TV is going to become a treat after the gym or at weekends once my kids are in bed. I want to rediscover my creativity away from a screen and I'm hoping this will only enhance the passion and ideas I already bring to my job, which I love! Is anyone else out there just feeling that we are all spending way too much time looking at screens or is it just me? 😅😂 #partialdigitaldetox

Can ChatGPT do SEO for me? It depends…   Whilst ChatGPT is very good for very specific questions or augmenting existing knowledge, it isn’t useful enough yet for insightful analysis or providing nuanced advice—it misses vital context.

If I haven't said it enough times already, as of 1st July Universal Analytics will be gone, along with all of your historical performance data! 😬 There are no signs of Google extending this deadline - 1st July is it! If you need to retain your historic data, I'd strongly suggest you export it sooner rather than later - there's only a few days remaining! Wow! What a brilliant April so far for Apex Digital 🎉   Lots going on, and lots completing this week, so I think I've earned my morning coffee!   ▶ Coded a dataLayer schema for a growing e-commerce client on BigCommerce. The previous setup was inadequate leading to incorrect measurement. I fixed this with true ecommerce funnel measurement, Google Consent Mode, enhanced conversions, dashboards and cookie consent frameworks. ▶ Another BigCommerce implementation underway, defining dataLayers and tagging to ensure continuity of measurement during a new website launch. ▶ Produced an attribution report stitching together first party identifiers (user_id), CRM & GA4 data in Google BigQuery to provide true first touch acquisition sources for converted users for a property client. ▶ Data analytics project for a very interesting report around recruitment in tech (this one was very interesting to work on, and a little bit different). ▶ Full analytics setup of an online pharmacy website, with optimised Consent mode & cookie compliance framework. ▶ Setup full ecommerce funnel tracking for two clients (a distillery and a brewery), one on WordPress & WooCommerce and one on Shopify. Again, with the usual cookie compliance, consent mode & enhanced conversions. ▶ Preparations for a few new pitches, including a Server-Side tracking project, more ecommerce implementations & analytics audits. ▶ Became a Cookiebot Web CMP by Usercentrics premium implementation partner 🍪 ▶ Finalised a VERY exciting new retainer with a growing agency client - more on this in another post next week! ▶ I've also become a member of The Growth Community, a fantastic business networking group in Yorks & Lincs - would recommend them to any new business starting up. I'd like to give a shout out to a wonderful platform we've been using lately: Plausible Analytics. Now, I don't know what Google was thinking when it sunsetted its beloved Universal Analytics product in favour of GA4. But whatever the case, GA4 is clunky, lacks the thrill of seeing how the day is going so far due to data upload lags, and frankly is not intuitive for non-marketers. That's not an exhaustive list of gripes, just a selection. Since using Plausible we have enjoyed: 🙋‍♀️🙋🏾‍♂️ Fewer requests to our CRO to dig up data and insights. It's now easier to find those quickly and confidently. This is a big opportunity cost saving. 🚀 Watertight reporting, packed with insights. 💡Better and quicker decision-making on our roadmap. Plausible isn't perfect. But it's hands down better than GA4. p.s. This is not a sponsored post!

When Google hints at another algorithm shake-up.
