New Gate Arts and Culture Centre in Derry, Northern Ireland – where heritage meets contemporary culture. 🎭 This £2.3m transformation breathes new life into the Fountain area of Derry, where the challenge lay in crafting a modern cultural hub that would resonate with the area's industrial heritage. The McGurk Architects masterful deployment of wienerberger's Oast Russet brick proves pivotal in this architectural narrative, its warm tones and robust character echoing the surrounding historic infrastructure while facilitating contemporary expression. In the true spirit of Christmas, our colleagues at the Cheadle Head Office organised a charity bake sale to raise funds for St Anne's Hospice, the chosen charity for the Head Office. Yesterday, the office was filled with sweet treats and colleagues wearing Christmas jumpers. 🎅 🎄 We are delighted to share that, together with the fundraising efforts of our colleagues and our donation of £500, we have raised a total of £704 for this worthy cause. In total, winerbeberger has donated over £8,000 to more than 30 local causes close to our sites and office. #CharityFundraising #CommunityFund #wienerbergerUK

Transforming our Ewhurst factory into a sanctuary for wildlife and wellbeing. 🦎 Maisie McKenzie ACIEEM, our Biodiversity Manager, shares the story of how we transformed our Ewhurst factory into a vibrant space that supports both wildlife and our employees. What was once a heavily overgrown area is now home to a reptile garden, a tranquil pond, and artist-designed wildlife habitats - a harmonious blend of biodiversity and wellbeing. Nestled on the edge of the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, our Ewhurst site is a treasure trove of biodiversity. The habitats present include scrub, grassland, lagoons, streams, ponds, and ancient woodlands. These diverse environments provide a haven for various wildlife, including five of the six UK reptile species: Common Lizard, Slow Worm, Adder, Grass Snake, and the elusive Smooth Snake, which can now only be found in a few counties, including Surrey and West Sussex. To learn more about how we brought this vision to life and our future plans for the site, please check out our latest blog linked in the comments. 👇 #Wildlife #Biodiversity #wienerbergerUK

The house name, Glen Vine, honours the client's childhood home, which was built by their father, reflecting their appreciation for tradition and craftsmanship. The clients aimed to create a unique, sustainable, and beautiful family home, prioritising the use of high-quality materials and a craft-based approach. The concept developed through a detailed study of the local historic arts and crafts context in Lymm, Cheshire, and drew inspiration from the works of William Morris and C.F.A. Voysey. The impressive details found in these precedents were created using techniques that are now nearly lost. Industry specialists collaborated to explore how modern construction methods could be employed to achieve contemporary interpretations of these details, avoiding mere replication of the past.
