Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Training and Consulting to Equip Organisations with the Tools for Success and Growth.

About us

Vandu Training & Consultancy is instigating positive disruption in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) training. EDI has a multitude of benefits for organisations and individuals, however, recently it has come under criticism for its effectiveness. Vandu Training aims to change that by providing training and consultancy that makes a real difference by supporting organisations and communities to structurally embed an inclusive culture that promotes productivity and wellbeing, rather than providing one-off, ‘tick-box’ training. We do this by creating thoughtful, facilitative training sessions that can be tailored to attendees needs, follow-up sessions to ensure change is being made, inclusive leadership plans and equality champion training, encouraging organisations to maintain change from within – and much more.

  • Here are 9 things we would like you to remember during this holiday season... 1. Not everyone celebrates Christmas. Be open to learning from others' customs. 2. Many people have dietary restrictions, so be mindful during the holiday meals! 3. Historical associations with Christmas might make it a complex or uncomfortable time for some. 4. Not everyone is comfortable at crowded social gatherings. Some people may have sensory sensitivities or anxiety. 5. Not everyone can physically access some venues—choose inclusive spaces and provide accessibility information in advance. 6. You should be patient with those who may need extra time, space, or support to participate in holiday activities. 7. Be an ally to those coming out during the holiday season—it can be daunting to navigate family reactions. 8. Everyone has pronouns that they would like people to use when referring to them. Ask if you are unsure and respect these decisions. 9. Gender roles in gift-giving or holiday responsibilities (like cooking) might not align with someone's identity—be flexible. Happy holidays to all! 🎁

  • The ways disabled people are affected by society’s disabling systems are countless. The best way to aim for inclusiveness is to listen to those who can share their opinions and lived experiences, ensuring their voices are heard and that opportunities are accessible and achievable for them. Small steps are important, but systemic change is necessary. Stay informed so you can help inform others too! #InternationalDayOfPersonsWithDisabilities #Disabilities #WorkplaceWellbeing

  • 🤔“If most users can navigate the website, why worry about accessibility?” Even if users can navigate your website to some extent, barriers like poor contrast make it harder for ANYONE to fully engage and retain information. That’s why designing for accessibility ensures more and more people can interact with your content effectively, improving the overall user experience. But beyond this, there are legal frameworks that businesses must adhere to, such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and the European Accessibility Act (EAA). ➡ Learn 9 SIMPLE steps to improve website accessibility with our new guide ready for 2025: https://lnkd.in/e73fZGtP #AccessibilityMatters #WebDesign #UX

  • This is such a powerful story; and yes, while it’s unique, it’s not uncommon for transgender people. Let’s take a moment to read and reflect on the small actions we can take to ensure those around us feel truly welcome and worthy of care ❤️🩹

When I look at this photo I see a human being that is beautiful both inside and out. I see someone whose light shines bright from within her as she goes through life helping others. I nearly lost her twice after she shared her truth with the world. Her mental health dipped so low that she couldn’t see a life worth living. To be clear this wasn’t because she has come to realise that she was transgender. This was because of the way she was treated by others. Her immediate family rejected her saying they could only accept her as a boy (that was 13 years ago) and still counting, friends walked away from her after years of what she thought was true friendship, strangers stared, pointed and giggled, some made hurtful comments and some felt entitled to be hostile in the street. Some colleagues continually misgendered her intentionally. Her landlord threw her out because they said she didn’t align with their religious beliefs. So, when she received a letter from the Gender Identity Clinic (which we later discovered was an admin error) that told her she was not going to support her gender re-alignment treatment it took her to a dark place where she thought it was preferable to do harm to herself than live in this existence. Her story is unique but not uncommon for those who are transgender. Research shows that suicide rates for transgender individuals is significantly higher than the general population. Worse still they experience proportionately higher levels of violence. Today is #TransDayOfRembrance and this year 350 transgender people have been murdered, victims of hate crime. I know that not everyone understands what it is to be transgender. That’s OK, you don’t have to (I'm a realist and know that I can't change the hearts and minds of everybody). However, my ask is that you take a moment to think about your choices. You do have a choice, you have a choice to be a good human being and live peacefully with your fellow human beings. So, please help each other and stop the hate that makes people do the things they do that drives transgender people to take their own lives or, worse, fall victim to violence or lose their lives. As Sophie Wood says 'I'm a human being and that's all you are too'. #Transgender #TDOR #TransgenderDayOfRemembrance #BelongingMatters #BecomeMentalHealthAware #InclusiveCultures #DEIB #LGBTQIA #MHFA

There are over 4,000 emojis, yet not a single one represents Black or Mixed-race hairstyles. We've had a paintbrush 🖌️ and a filing cabinet 🗄️ before we've seen someone with braids or cornrows— aslfjasfljasfsfjasflsajfasnf??. We've partnered with RISE 365, a youth-led group in East London, to help campaign for the creation of the world’s first emojis representing Black and Mixed-race hairstyles, designed by the young people themselves. Huge thanks to BBC News, Metro (print), The Guardian, MailOnline, The Sun (print), Daily Star (print), The Independent, PRWeek, Creative Moment and more for supporting the story, and to Mel B and other Black and Mixed-race creators for amplifying our campaign. To make these emojis a reality, we need to prove demand—so take two seconds and Google "Afro hair emoji"..ask your mum, dog and brother to do the same abeg. Thank you in advance, mwa! ❤️

  • 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 Based on the lived experience of our trainers, our team often mentions how much of a difference addressing racism and microaggressions can make. Regularly, we encounter subtle acts of racism. However, we have also experienced firsthand how people who feel respected and included progress faster, while those who experience microaggressions face significant hurdles during their personal and professional journeys. In this age of heightened social awareness, failing to address racism can hold back an entire generation of marginalised employees, students and communities. We want to invite representatives from organisations and businesses across the UK to join our 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗶-𝗥𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗴𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗢𝗻𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 on the 21st of November, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
