UMAPs thanks Lord Kamall for his powerful contributions to yesterday's House of Lords debate on Physician Associates and Anaesthesia Associates. Lord Kamall rightly highlighted the challenges MAPs have faced, including the toxic rhetoric, and protectionist attitudes which may have been fostered by the BMA. What began as a professional discussion has devolved into a campaign of misinformation and hostility, undermining collaborative progress. Decisions regarding MAPs must be guided by data, not dogma. This process, and the guidance around the roles of PAs and AAs must also not be diluted by poorly referenced, opinion-based documents and position statements that lack accountability. Finally, UMAPs, once again, condemns the bullying and derogatory language directed at MAPs. Such behaviour is unacceptable and stands in stark contrast to the NHS' values of respect and collaboration. We remain steadfast in protecting the integrity of MAPs and ensuring the NHS thrives for both patients and its workforce. #umaps #maps #medicalassociatepeofessionals #physicianassociate #anaesthesiaassociate #aa #pa #cmaps

We extend our gratitude to Baroness Natalie Bennett for initiating a debate in the House of Lords this evening, allowing for the vital role PAs and AAs play in healthcare to be clearly highlighted. The debate saw several Lords stepping forward to champion Medical Associate Professionals, presenting a balanced and informed defence that corrected misinformation, misconceptions, and underscored the value to patients and the NHS that Medical Associate Professionals bring. Notably, Lord Scriven highlighted the significant contributions of PAs and AAs, and condemned the abhorrent treatment of them by some doctors, stressing that this behaviour must stop. We believe that this evening’s discussion serves as a crucial step toward shaping a fair and accurate narrative about the Medical Associate Professions, and hope that all future discussions around the profession continue to be based in facts. UMAPs welcomes the Leng review and eagerly anticipates an independent, evidence-based review of MAP roles, which will provide clarity and direction for the future of our profession. #umaps #cmaps #physicianassociate #anaesthesiaassociate #pa #aa #maps #medicalassociateprofessionals

As a result of continued explorations around the legalities of the RCGP and BMA guidance documents, we have been requested to get a hard count of PAs affected by these actions. As a result, we have now produced this snap-survey to capture the information of those affected so that we can provide this information. You do not have to be a member to provide information that would be able to help any potential case. We would ask you to share this information with all colleagues. It is imperative that we complete that as soon as possible. https://lnkd.in/dsCCZ96X Warm regards, PA Stephen Nash General Secretary United Medical Associate Professionals (UMAPs) #PhysicianAssociate #AnaesthesiaAssociate #MAPs #UMAPs #CMAPs #MedicalAssociateProfessionals #MAPStudent #PAstudent #AAstudent #AAPA
